“An ill-fitting hotel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014 via mobile

Despite the excellent reports for this establishment, it was woefully short of providing adequate facilities for a one day meeting and a three night business stay. It had all the charm of a Scandinavian furniture store but none of its functionality. There is no parking outside the hotel so guests arriving by car will have to abandon their car on double yellow lines before dragging their cases up the spiral staircase or waiting for the lift up to the first floor self check in. There was no concierge service. For my meetingThe meeting table had a user unfriendly zig zag edge which made it difficult for delegates to sit close enough to write type etc. In the quirky rooms there was barely enough room to balance a laptop so the bed had to make do as a desk. The services were strictly 'do it yourself'; from check in through making your own bed, serving your own breakfast, finding somewhere to eat it, to check out - all achieved without the help from the vacuous staff. Sadly an unsatisfactory experience

I travel a lot with my work, and even though my business pay for my hotel stays, I always try to keep costs down as far as possible - the CitizenM was perfect, an absolute bargain!

Location wise, just a 5-10 minute walk from the main rail stations which is ideal after a 4 hour train ride. Check in is self-service but a really helpful lady was on hand if you need any help. You get a choice of rooms on screen, I picked 7th floor but unfortunately it still didn't really provide much of a view.

The rooms are small, but absolutely perfect for one on a quick overnight stay. Despite being small, the shower is large with a rain-dance style head, and the bed is enormous and I found very comfortable, I like to sprawl out and the fact the bed touches 3 walls means I couldn't fall out if I tried!

Everything in the room (and I mean everything - lights, heating, blinds, TV, wake up calls etc.) are all controlled through a Samsung tablet by the side of the bed. Perfect for me and great fun - not so great for the less technically able so watch our for that. Wifi worked very well and is FREE plus there are plenty of plug sockets (even EU/US ones) and some right next to the bed. These things are a godsend for the business traveller.

Breakfast was very good for the price (lovely potato cakes, fresh english muffins, and croissants the size of a small boat!), and the staff were helpful at every turn. I loved the decor, the atmosphere, and the whole experience at the CitizenM. Will definitely return in the future.

Room Tip: Go for a 'courtyard' view if you need a good nights sleep - especially if its a busy night o...

This was our 2nd visit to Citizen M, and we had a brilliant time. The staff are uber friendly - everyone goes out of their way to make you welcome.

The cosy little pod room at the back and on a high floor gave us three great nights sleep (The ENORMOUS bed does help too!). The drinks in the bar are hotel prices - so fairly steep - but to be expected. They have a good selection and it is a nice place to chill out before you head off into Glasgow. I'd recommend the Black Isle beer.

it's a great location, we never seem to be far from where we're going, and even if it does seem a bit too far there are plenty of taxis available just at the door. There are oodles of cool bars, pubs and restaurants within a short walk. Sleazies on Sauchiehall and the Pig & Butterfly on Bath Street are two favourites that are close by.

We had a few hiccups with the tablet that controls everything in the room, and I see from other people's reviews that this is a common occurrence. There were times we were crying out for a good old fashioned TV remote control! But it's a small niggle and the 'turn it off and on again' trick seemed to work. Though we had to do it several times.

I would seriously recommend this hotel to any couples (or VERY close friends!) looking to stay in Glasgow. It's trendy, friendly and not too pretentious. Yes, accepted there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but they do a great cappucino in the 'canteen'. If you're that bothered take a travel kettle :)

Room Tip: Rooms at the back don't have a view but are much quieter. There's quite a lot of street and...

This is the second time I've stayed at the CitizenM hotel in Glasgow and I've loved it both times. First time was for work and the second time was for a night out in Glasgow. Things I loved best:
Huge comfy bed
Lots of movies you can watch for free
Excellent shower with delicious smelling shower gels
Great interior decorations
Delicious breakfast buffet
Excellent cocktail bar

I really recommend this hotel.

We looked forward to staying at the hotel Citizen M, which from the website appeared to be modern, fresh and with a certain quirkiness about it when comparing it with the other hotels in the same price range. We were massively disappointed. One of the few positives this hotel had for us was it's location, it is bang in the centre of Glasgow just a very short walk from the bus station and main shopping area which was very handy.

On arrival the self service check-in worked well and we found our way to a room which on immediate inspection did not have any tea/coffee making facilities...this was a major disappointment. The room was what some may describe as 'bijoux' but it just felt too tiny with the enormous bed taking up most of the space. This in theory may sound good but seeing as the bed was most uncomfortable and awfully awkward to get into or even just onto - as there was only one chair in the room so nowhere else to sit if more than one person - meant it did not work well for us.

The speaker system and the bathroom lights were a nice touch, as was the shower good but there was not much privacy if needing to go to the loo. There was a curtain to pull across to separate the areas but this just reminded us of the kind that nurses pull around the beds in a hospital ward...weird! The sink unit was damaged, as the tap was slack and coming away from the sink, which in turn was marked with what looked like an old cigarette burn. The remote controlled black out blinds were handy for a good nights sleep but of no real use considering the bed was so uncomfortable. We really wanted to like Citizen M but we can only say that we were disappointed. A decently priced, centrally located hotel but due to all the negative points we encountered on our stay, it would not be somewhere we choose to stay again.

Rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. Comfy beds, great bathrooms with amazing showers, excellent television, free wifi, and a marvelous bar/restaurant. Staff could not possibly be more accommodating. Very happy with this hotel, but know that it is really very modern and not especially traditional.
