On our first day of arrival together with breakfast the following morning, we were slightly bemused at the 'out of the usual' hotel approach. However this soon went away due to the friendliness of the staff who guided us into the 'CitizenM style. By day 2 we were definitely felt like 'Citizens' and very much enjoyed our stay.

The rooms are very trendy; re the still fairly unusual, 'pod' appearance. However they were very well equipped and include all essential requirements - check out the website for the use of the mini ipad to control all things electric in the room. In our opinion the rooms are best for short stays as there is little room to hang clothes, albeit there is an extra large drawer under the bed which can take most sized suitcases, if you are happy to live out of a suitcase. We stayed for 5 days and managed well. (For the ladies, the hairdryer apparently only had one speed and temperature - hot. Next visit my wife will be taking her own).

The canteen was fun and delivered a good English cooked &/or continental breakfast. Seating was unusual as you are encouraged to eat anyway you can find a space, be it in the Canteen/bar (part of the canteen) or lounge area. This seemed a little strange (away from the usual hotel concept), but really worked for us and we had a different view each day.

The quality of products CitizenM use was good in our opinion, from the blend and style of tea/tea bag to the type of hand soap bar and shower accessories.

Saving the best part of this review to last, the customer service was fabulous! The Hotel had a great atmosphere and a really positive vibe. The Hotel's 'Ambassadors' (staff to you and I) were always (with no exception) friendly and helpful, which was consistent across the range of roles from housekeeping to management. In our opinion this firmly places CitizenM Glasgow at the top (currently) of our hotel customer service list, and we have been fortunate enough to experience 5* hotel treatment. Congratulations!

We certainly recommend trying CitizenM, while it may not be suitable for all age groups, we easily adapted and really enjoyed the new and refreshing experience.

Room Tip: Try going for a high floor, as some street noise (vehicles and voices) was audible during late evenings and during the early morning rush hour.

Quick & easy check in! Stayed in 625, rooms are smaller than expected but ok! The cream PU edge around the bed was dirty & grubby & could've done with a thorough clean (which I did with antibacterial wipes)! The TV broke 3 times, the connection between the tablet & TV was ridiculously slow we couldn't watch anything the whole time. As the TV didn't work meant the alarm didn't work either meaning we overslept on the first day! The bed was very comfy, but awkward to get in & out of! Sink too small (similar to on a plane)! Bar in hotel was nice, friendly staff, good cocktail options & reasonable £! Would stay again if in the area, as a good price & location, they just need to give rooms a clean & if the technology is a USP needs updating or ensure it works sufficiently (friends TV packed up on the last day too)!

Stayed: August 2014

We stayed at the CitizenM hotel in Glasgow as we was visiting for the commonwealth games, Overall it was a great stay. The staff where friendly and were very helpful at check in/out, the rooms where so unique with the control tablet for lights/mood/TV and blinds etc. and the bed was very comfortable.

The hotel is well located, very central, and very modern.

Would defiantly stay there again.

after 6 hours + 4 maintenance men the amenities which are the appeal for staying at this hotel (mood lighting, wifi + on demand movies) still were not working. the maintenance man himself and the manager didnt seem to interested in this whatsoever and just plied us with free alcohol obviously hoping drunkeness would stop us from complaining anymore.
the next morning waking up in our new room which we were eventually moved to, low and behold the before said amenities were not working there either.
compensation was not offered in any form except alcoholic beverages and emails to the manager have gone unanswered we will not be staying here again and would urge people to do the same.
