very nice renovation albeit a little unimaginative in terms of 'modern decor'. standard twin rooms were very large and spacious. bar area was comfortable and relaxing but difficult to get a seat due to lots of non-residents using the bar area for evening drinks. service was very good throughout. brilliant location, city centre on your doorstep.

Room Tip: Twin rooms on the 3rd floor seemed bigger than double rooms. Room 321 was huge and great views of the city landscape.

I recently attended a Tourism Ireland Conference in the Grand Central hotel. We had a fabulous meal (beautiful Scottish Aberdeen Angus beef as a main course). The staff were extremely friendly, in particular the concierge, and proud he was too to be so helpful. We had a casual soup and sandwich lunch which was lovely and the meeting room for the conference was well laid out with a coat rail on the way in and all mod con conferencing equipment. We came from Prestwick airport and the wonderful thing about it was we didn't even have to step outside between Preswick and the hotel cause the airport train went straight to grand central station and there's a hotel entrance within the station. Wonderful when the weather is bad and you're trying to cure the tailend of a christmas flu!!

We stayed here on a Friday night in January. The hotel is conveniently located close to the shops, pubs and restaurants that Glasgow city centre has to offer. Our room on the fourth floor faced onto the street and was a decent size with a huge bathroom. We heard very little noise from either inside (there was a ball in the function room) or outside the hotel. The staff at reception were really helpful as were the staff at breakfast. The buffet breakfast was good with a wide range of options. Overall, the hotel is well worth the money and we really enjoyed our stay.

Had a wonderful nights stay here recently, gorgeous hotel with lovely modernised rooms, we had a warm and quiet room with plenty of facilities and a brilliant power shower! Food in the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast was delicious, staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and always on hand if you need anything. Couldn't recommend this more, if you can afford then go for an executive room it's worth it!

Stayed here in May 2012, original room we had was a bit badly designed and to be honest quite depressing, so we asked at reception to upgrade, which wasn't a problem, and we were booked into a suite straightaway. It was definetly worth it as the room was at least double the size and had a huge bathroom.

There is a phenomenal chandelier hanging above the staircase which travels from the highest ceiling point right down to the grand piano sitting at reception level, around 6 floors I think!

Champagne Central, looking out over the train station is great. It has an extensive cocktail menu, all of which we tasted were amazing. Also, for food, the afternoon tea is recommended.

Tempus restaurant is also lovely, my wife and I dined from the pre-theatre menu which has quite a bit of choice, but the main menu looks good too.

Would return here again for a special occaision.

Room Tip: If you can afford the upgrade to a suite, it is well worth it!
