my wife and i have stayed in this hotel on many occasions - the staff are welcoming and the atmosphere generally is relaxed. Food is excellent.

We have learned from experience that choice of room matters. We always now insist on a room that faces the station - because on one side of the hotel traffic noise can be an issue. we also insist on a room that is above the station canopy (i.e. the 3rd or 4th floor) after one stay when we had a 2nd floor room and the station cleaners (or repairers or whatever) started work at 0300 hours - i am sure they had a good time but we spent the rest of the night listening to them. above the canopy, station noise just is not a problem.

The location is splendid - i am lame so the proximity of trains, both mainline, low levee and underground matters a lot.

We stayed a Friday and Saturday night as part of a group of Radiotherapists from all over UK. We had two fantastic meals, this hotel can really cater for a group the food was fresh and well cooked faultles in every way Long shlep to the bar though.
Breakfast was a bit of a disapointment re the eggs You cant cook a tray of eggs en mass and expect them to be good after 20 mins
The smoked Haddock was very good

Room Tip: remember the coridors are very long. Think hotel Budapest (film)

How could I not like my stay here.... My husband booked the JFK President Suite and we drank vintage champagne in the stunning champagne bar!
Breakfast was excellent with a very helpful chef ensuring we had everything we wanted.
Great stay!

This hotel is a good choice if you arrive by train. The rooms are nicely decorated and considering the location, relatively well sound proofed. Check in was very good and I found the receptionists very helpful. I would stay here again on business.

Hubby and I booked a 2 night break to celebrate our wedding anniversary in this hotel which we held our wedding reception in 20 years ago. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room comfortable, clean and decent sized. Breakfast was busy and buffet service which was a little dried out but regularly refreshed with the option to request alternatives. Room rate was reasonable and we would stay here again - maybe in another 20 years!
