“very light room”
Reviewed 29 April 2008

The staff at Rab Ha's were friendly, the room was clean, but it only had blinds, no curtains. The result was an incredibly light room, you could almost read at midnight, with the light off! Fine if you are used to light rooms, but for me it was a nightmare.

Breakfast was a disappointment, cereal and toast - apparently this is now the tradtional scottish breakfast!

17/11/07 Letter to Management Rab Ha's.

After reading a recommendation of your restaurant online we decided to book at Rab Ha’s, as it appeared to look reputable. Fair enough the football was on, however being a business it could be assumed that the person on the phone who confirms bookings would be professional and actually know when the restaurant is open rather than taking bookings if there aren’t actually any staff in the restaurant other than a kitchen porter.

On arrival we made our way downstairs to the restaurant, which was not even set up, with random drunks making their way to the toilet. A pile of napkins in the middle of the floor and not a member of staff in sight.

After making our in extremely bad weather to say we were annoyed was an understatement. Also as one person had travelled all the way from Aberdeen.

After managing to attract the attention of the kitchen porter and asking her if the restaurant was actually open or what, I was then asked if I needed the toilet!! Luckily at the age of 25 I can control my bladder and pointed out that we had a booking. A rather pissed off chef then came out and said he’d see if he could ‘find someone,’ after dragging himself away from the football. After heading up upstairs he returned to say he ‘could not make it to the bar’ and ‘you can stay if you want.’ Ah Scottish hospitality at it’s best. Oddly enough our response was ‘No thanks.’

Luckily there are professional restaurants in Glasgow so we spent our money there. Please can I suggest that you alter your online site, as it appears to be misleading.

We have just returned from a 1 night stay at Rab Ha's, having found it through Trip Advisor.

We stayed in room number 1 which was very spacious, lovely shower room and comfortable bed. The location is excellent. Right in the Merchant City and within walking distance of everything central.

We were meeting friends for a meal in the restaurant and, when I booked, I explained that one of our number liked fairly plain food and would it be possible to have the bar food option for her in the restaurant. When we got to our table there was a bar meal menu already there! The meal we had was excellent (the bar menu wasn't used!) and we found the staff friendly and helpful.

The only drawback from our point of view was that the rooms are not double-glazed and there was a lot of street noise which went on well after midnight. Although it was Sunday night, Glaswegians were still having fun! I'm afraid that that alone would stop us returning. But if you're a late-nighter and want a comfortable place in central Glasgow, it's good.

The cost was £75 for two, which included a generous continental breakfast (cereal, toast, croissants, fruit) served either in your room or in the bar downstairs.

Underpants discarded behind our bathroom door was only one of a series of issues we had with Rab Ha's when we stayed between Christmas and New year of 2005. Other problems were
Radiator not working in Bedroom.
Very noisey fan in Bathroom.
Shower door wouldn,t close.
Shower drain blocked.
Shower temperature couldn,t be adjusted.
Rooms didn,t appear to heve been vacuumed.
Pair of socks discarded in corner of room.
Cleaning lady didn,t lock our room when she finished cleaning!!
No bathrobes as described on their website.
Lightbulbs blown in room.
To be fair, they did move us to another room after we noticed some of these issues with our initial room although the second room had problems as well as the first. The breakfast was fine and the location is good. We did subsequently e-mail the management who seemed disinterested. At best I would describe it as adequate and not worth £75 per night.

Spent a fantastic one night at Rab Ha's on the way to the Highlands for a few days, after a personal recommendation from a friend in Glasgow. It's buried deep in the middle of the Merchant City, right in the middle of the town and walking distance to everything. Possibly not what you would look for for a silent retreat-type break as it's in the thick of the city, but for a city break it is sensational.

Nice little pub downstairs, and a restraunt in the basement serving the most unbelievably good food. The room was very well appointed, thoughtfully decorated with some pretty modern styles, but peaceful. Nice shower and very clean all-round. Good continental breakfast served either downstairs or in your room in the morning. Really fair price and faultless service - I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place in the middle of Glasgow...
