“Almost flawless....and the restaurant is first class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2012, grabbing a very competitive offer from laterooms.com.

Walking into Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens is like walking back in time - good old fashioned service, in 4 linked town houses in Glasgow's west end.

The room was very comfortable, with high quality furnishings and bedding, and the bathroom had a sumptuous large bath with the expected luxury toileteries. Our only slight gripe would be the single glazed windows...the main road is only yards from the front of the hotel, and with a nearby hospital, the occasional ambulance siren was easily heard in our room. I'd recommend a room at the rear of the hotel for this reason.

The star of the hotel is without doubt the restaurant, which has recently been awarded its 3rd AA Rosette. We dined only on one evening, as we had a dinner out in the West End on our first night. We both went for the tasting menu, which is one of the best I have had. A Michelin Star can't be far away.

Highly recommended, and the best hotel I have stayed in in Glasgow.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the rear of the hotel to avoid traffic noise

My wife and I had dinner here last Saturday evening.
I found the decor and atmosphere very relaxing and tasteful. No rush or hurry from the staff - a very nice change...

We both ate Fillet Steak which was cooked to perfection and devine!
Puddings were spectacular and very tasty.

HUGE wine list is probably slightly over the top but all in the scheme of such an establishment.

Our table was superbly waited and staff are obviously very well trained and schooled in the art.

All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and although prices are pretty expensive, you expect this when you book somewhere of this quality so wasnt a problem to us.

Perfect place for that special occassion - we will definately visit again in the future.

Been wanting to stay at this hotel for a long time so expectations were very high.
Found staff to be a little false and trying too hard to impress rather than just being themselves. Have stayed in Hotel du Vin in Henley and Edinburgh and found staff wonderful.
Check in was awkward and left waiting for our room for a while.
Room was fabulous with all the amenities you would expect so cannot fault it. Bath, shower, TV in bathroom, mini bar, coffee, tea etc etc.
Bar was nice, but lacked any personality.
didnt have breakfast so cannot comment.
Have stayed in better hotels in Glasgow. Disappointed.

We stayed here on the night of my boyfriends graduation with his parents. On arrival the staff were friendly and polite. I think most them congratulated my boyfriend on graduating and even asked what he did. Nice touch. We were shown to our room - they try and explain how not to get lost and how to find your house. Easier said than done!

We stayed for dinner and it was nice to order in the bar with a drink then go through to sit for dinner. Odd but actually rather nice. Now this is my only disappointment with the hotel. There was only one vegetarian option in the starter and main course on the dinner menu. A little disappointing as I am vegetarian and not a big fan of Risotto. Now the restaurant was not busy but it provided a great setting to have a nice catch up with his parents. They live in Belgium and we haven't seen them since November last, so the quite chilled atmosphere provided a great setting to catch up. Now to the food. the bread basket was great with loads of different breads, they were lovely. However the risotto for my main was not to my taste and a bit too runny. But everyone else said there food was great, so basically don't get the veggy option or any risotto. The deserts were top notch! The staff were lovely and extremely helpful throughout the meal. Even made me a "White Russian" when it was not on the cocktail menu!

Now the room - perfect. It had a big bathroom with lovely big bath and a separate shower. The shower is brilliant and is a rainfall type of shower. Really great once you work out to turn it on! The bed was lovely - not too soft and not hard. Great nights sleep. There is a tv with all the sky channels again a nice touch. There is also an ipod dock great for listening to music or even just to charge your phone. There is coffee machine, a kettle and a range of Teas and coffees. It seems like all the little touches were thought of. There is even a separate room to get changed in.

Despite being next to great western road which is rather noisy - we didn't hear a thing even with the window open all night!

Breakfast was served till11am on the Saturday. This was good as we could have a wee lie in. Breakfast though was brilliant. Plenty of options to cater to everybody's tastes. I really loved the breakfast!

I loved it overall and would recommend it too everyone. The only reason I have given it 4 stars was the lack of vegetarian options on the dinner menu and the disappointing vegetarian main course. Other than this I highly recommend it.

Spent two nights at 1 Devonshire Gardens for my son's wedding. Was welcomed with a complimentary dram then when shown to our room couldn't believe the size of it ,superb, four poster bed, rolled top bath in the window and an additional double shower room. Complimentery tea/coffee making facilities. Food at the wedding reception was first class.
Each of the rooms are named after a champagne or wine, ours was Geoff Merrill.

I use this hotel regularly and find it to be one of the best I stay at in the UK. The staff are very attentive and the food excellent. Just a couple of points which can be an issue:

- the rooms are well decorated but lack air conditioning and on the few warm days the rooms can be very stuffy
- parking spaces are limited and sometimes you find yourself walking some distance in the rain to get to the hotel

Room Tip: If you like to sleep with windows open ask for a room facing the back of the house as the road out f...
