“Excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2013

We enjoyed a lovely night in the hotel. We were warmly welcomed and offered a drink during our short wait to check in. We were fortunate enough to have been gifted the evening by my wife's parents and happier still to be given an upgrade to a gorgeous suite. The accommodation was first class, the restaurant very nice and the service from beginning to end faultless. The sommelier was very helpful assisting us to choose and discover a new favourite wine (The Dead Arm Shiraz). Service in the bar later was just as good.

Room Tip: The Hush Heath suite opens on to a small courtyard garden.

We stayed here on 3 February as a birthday treat from my other half. When we checked in we were asked if we wanted a 'wee dram' whilst we waited until a member of staff was available, we are not lovers of whiskey so we declined he offer but no other alternatives were given, if you don't drink alcohol then you've had it!
Whilst we were checking in at the reception area the woman who checked us in told my partner how much was owed plus a deposit which I then felt terrible as I did not realise how expensive a room was plus it was supposed to be a birthday present and I didn't take too kindly that all other residents could hear too.
We were show to our room Raoul Collett on the top floor, first impressions that it was nice, nothing fancy. It shortly turned in to a nightmare. When wevwalked in to the room it was very cold, the 4 poster bed was missing the top half, there were vases on top of the wardrobes which made a racket when you walked anywhere in the room (had to take them down), there were cracks all over the ceiling which were badly plastered and we had to jam a chair up against the door as it was rattling/banging due to he wind and the bed wasn't the comfiest.
We were both bitterly disappointed and felt a bit ripped off. I wouldn't stay here again I prefer Malmaison due to their cosy, comfortable rooms and customer service.

We have just returned from a one-night stay at the Glasgow Hote Du Vin and really enjoyed it. It was very cosy in the lounge area with the fire on, and the rooms were lovely. We were with a group so we got to have a nosey in other rooms, and they were all really nice (and some of them are huge!). Bathrobes, lovely smellies and a nespresson machine were all very welcome! We also had dinner in a private dining room, which was fantastic – the meal was delicious, and the staff very courteous.

The members of staff were very friendly, but there were a number of times where we felt that something was going wrong – either they were short-staffed that weekend or had new staff who weren’t quite up to scratch. We couldn’t sit in the bistro for a cuppa when we arrived, so they suggested we went into the lounge near reception instead. But no-one ever came to take an order, and we had to ask repeatedly. After waiting for ages, when the food came we had to ask for jam to accompany the scones (they came only with cream). This happened the following morning too, when we asked for coffee – we were assured someone would come to take our order, but no-one did. A couple of side dishes weren’t delivered when we ate in the evening, and when we asked for more toast at breakfast the next day, we needed to ask for more butter when it was delivered. We were over-charged for breakfast on our bill the next morning too, which luckily my husband spotted before we left. None of these were big things, and it certainly didn’t detract from a great stay, but it did make us feel a bit neglected! Other reviewers don’t seem to have had a problem, so it may have been an off weekend.

The surroundings are great (there is a road outside but we didn’t hear it in our room in the roof!) and the food was excellent, just the service which wasn’t quite what I think it should have been.

My favourite hotel in Glasgow. If you're staying in Glasgow and want to experience a 5* experience, this is the hotel to go to. The exterior is very grand, matched by an equally grand interior design. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Hotel is visited by the rich and famous but all guests are made to feel special. Food is also superb.

Room Tip: Inform the hotel of your requirements and they will do their best to accommodate your wishes. Room...

Just a quick word on my favorite hotel in the world. Keep it up guys you never fail me. Wouldn't mind seeing the range of steaks back on the restaurant menu though. This hotel never ever falters in the quality of service and levels of food excellence. I would never consider staying anywhere else in Scotland.

This is our second stay at Devonshire Gardens, and the second visit did not dissappoint. We managed to book an excellent winter deal including dinner for £130.00. From the minute you arrive at the hotel you are made to feel very special. You could wander round the building for hours just checking out the stunning interior. The room we stayed in had a roll top bath with double doors next to the bath opening out onto the bedroom. You could lay in the bath looking out to the blue sky! Stunning! The bar area had a good ambience for drinks before dinner, and the meal itself was delicious.Curried parsnip veloute was to die for!The staff on reception, porters and the waiting staff were all very accomodating and could not do enough for you, in fact, the staff are a big asset to the hotel. The staff are so down to earth and you could have a laugh with them (at some hotels this would not be possible!), however remained very professional at the same time. From the minute we checked in at 4.00pm until the 12.00 checkout the next day, we did not leave the hotel as we wanted to experience the hotel as much as possible. Can't wait to return and will do exactly the same again!

Room Tip: Stayed twice and both rooms have been stunning
