“Very beautiful room and quiet overnight stay”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Booked last minute and only for one night so didn't expect to get a great room although the price was very good. Checked in efficiently and were allocated one of the inner facing rooms which was beautifully decorated and styled. Everything worked in the room apart from the air-con although there was a good quality desk fan which was fine and helped to keep the air feeling less stuffy. The atmosphere was really nice otherwise, the room was very clean, tidy and well equipped. Only gripe was a little bit of noise in the morning from workmen who were renovating some of the rooms across the corridor although this was tolerable and didn't spoil our stay. Overall really nice place, room was lovely and we had a great time.

Parking can be a bit awkward here if you are driving with the hotels parking association being with Q-Park which is a few blocks away, we parked for a short time in Blytheswood Square at the top of the road (literally seconds away) and then moved the car after check-in. The traffic wardens headquarters is just round the corner as well so if you do park for a longer period in the streets around the hotel (free from 6pm-8am) make sure you get out of bed early to move the car as this area is usually the first stop for the wardens in the morning as they make their rounds.

We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for an inner facing room if you're worried about street noise.

We made the reservation at the Malmaison Hotel for our overnight stay in Glasgow, as our daughter had previously stayed at the Malmaison in Edinburgh.
We were in Glasgow for an afternoon at the Hydro to watch the Gymnastics, followed by the evening session of the Athletics.
What turned out to be an outstanding day of events, enjoyed too by William, Kate and Harry in the Hydro, great to see the three young Royals..
An outstanding day watching the amazing competitors..
Our intention was that after our 04:30 wakeup call enabling us to take the early flight up from Birmingham to Glasgow, the Malmaison would be a perfect choice. We presumed it would offer the luxury of a decent nights sleep, a beautiful big bath to wallow and relax. Most of all a lie in after our visit to the Games and very long day.
Our room was comfortable, in keeping with the national theme of tweed and tartan fabrics, the bed quilt cosy, for some maybe a little too heavy for the time of the year.

Ok we thought when we looked out of the window. Obviously we were put in this room overlooking numerous large commercial sized bins in the alley way below, as only staying for one night.
We were then disturbed by the crashing of glass, as bottles were disposed of into one of the bins.
then Oh my, we were woken around 7ish by the banging and clattering of machinery, whereby on taking a lookout of the window a lorry was lifting with a hydraulic machine on it, and moving an enormous metal skip laden with what appeared to be metal scaffolding. The noise was horrendous.
I rang to the reception to air our annoyance, and was put through to the Duty Manager. He explained that he regretted the noise and could not do anything about it.
The Hotel had requested to the workmen in the next building, would they consider holding off the work during the Games but they had not.
We tried to sleep, the skip was taken away, when not long after the lorry returned, with its lifting mechanism in operation another metal skip was dropped onto the site. The sleep lie in idea abandoned, not the restful night we had envisaged. We got up, showered and went for breakfast.

On offer a great choice of pastries, cereals, fruit juices with the Continental Breakfast included in the room rate.
A £2 supplement for the a hearty cooked breakfast was well worth the cost.

The location was ideal for us, not too far a walk to the Hydro, and the Art School tour, would I return probably not, in the risk of getting one of the bedrooms with the bins as our view.

Pleased to comment that our final Hotel Bill had a reduction of 30% stated as Noise - which we gratefully accepted - Thanks I guess to the Duty Manager.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a room away from the area with the construction in progress next door

Stayed here for our seven years married anniversary, and boy were we impressed! From start to finish. Cannot fault anything, flawless stay. Usually just book the Premier Inn or Holiday Inn or what not but decided to treat ourselves, and booked the Sunday Stopover deal - you have to spend at least £75 in the brassiere on the Sunday to quality for a huge discount on the room rates, and we booked a double level room with the lounge and bathroom then the bedroom up the stairs on a higher level. Was absolutely beautiful and the attention to detail is second to none, all the extras that come with it are brilliant. Ordered room service for breakfast, also amazing!

We were part of a vacation group of 14 people from the US. This was a great place to stay. The room my husband and I had was lovely - clean, quiet, and upscale, though a bit small. It was rather hot during our stay and the window did not open very wide but there was a fan in the room which helped. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was awesome. We could not believe all the choices for breakfast. The location is good though it is a bit of a hike, given the hills, to shopping and off-site restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a great hotel, and we stayed here for the games but we had room 157 which was really hot so we needed to open the windows. Right next door to the hotel there is a building being demolished and they start work trooping masonry about into metal skips and driving lorries onto the site at 7am, so no hope of any sleep after that. The room price doesn't reflect the noise and inconvenience at all. I have a holiday let and I always tell my customers if their are any building works going on nearby - we should have been forewarned so we could chooses to move.

Room Tip: Check your room isn't on the sized next to the demolition works.

A warm welcome from the reception although on arrival at 2.30pm the room was not ready however was able to leave baggage which was delivered to the room before return from a visit into the city. The reception was most helpful and gave good direction to venues and ordered taxis when requested. Room clean and with good bar facilities. Bed comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent with great variety of cereals, fruit, fruit juices as well as the ability to order a cooked breakfast although an extra charge was made. Staff service was very efficient

We stayed at the Malmaison for our daughter's wedding and found the staff extremely kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and this was when the Commonwealth Games were on and the Hotel was busy and still they found time to answer all our questions and helped with everything. Thank you to all the staff and management, a special thanks to the reception staff who had the task of directing the florist and hairdresser etc to the various rooms.
