Unless your a homeless person planning to spend half your day walking up stairs on a quest to find a room to get high, find somewhere else. The only good part was talking to the receptionist. Began with walking up the stairs which actually felt like I was walking to mordor. The door on the bathroom might as well not be there, the wardrobe which has to be supported to stand is engraved with endless names! A room which had no purpose had a small chest of drawers which we actually found an old shirt in it, and in the corner there was a patch of separate different carpet to cover up a patch of board.

Bedside tables were chipped and the lamps above the bed were to the point of falling off! And to finish this off, the bath had a hole in it, not there brightest idea.

This is definately a "cheap and cheerful" and my room looked nothing like the pictures being very small and shower was in a cupboard. However, don't be put off, this was unbelievably well located being a walk from the shuttle bus from airport stop and a short walk to every major attraction on Glasgow. Definately "olde world" with no elevator but all the basics are there and staff were amzingly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fine. A Victorian Experience for those who don't want to pay the big chain proces.!

We stayed there for 1 night. We were out in glasgow for a hen night. Staff were helpful. rooms were clean and and the proper beds were comfy but for the heat at that time the beds had heavy quilts. the fold out bed was lumpy and small for a double. the bathroom was small and dark but adequate. i would recommend this hotel to others loking for a good cheap place to stay.

Stayed in a triple room - £54 on a sat night including breakfast. The pics on here are out dated and the actual rooms are far better.. central, but very quiet, there was even buliders 4 houses up and i didnt hear a thing. apart from the doors rattling everytime someone came in or left there rooms it was lovely and clean well worth the £54 and more untill the morning for breakfast. "Buffet Breakfast" the dinning room was down stairs, the waitress was very rude, had clear B.O at 8am in the morning not the best, would be nice to have maybe a help yourself to cereal/orange juice/fruit because we wanted more juice and wasnt allowed, the fry up was swimming in grease. The waitress and the chef were having arguements in the kitchen, it was like upstairs the staff were so lovely and helpful then we woke up in a different hotel.. put off id defo stay again but wouldnt stay for breakfast.

Room Tip: stay here if you want to be on the door step of the city centre but enough out to have peace and qui...

Stayed here 1 night mid week with 3 friends. 2 twin rooms were booked at the same time by the same person several weeks prior to our arrival. This begs the question - why were our rooms on different floors (room 2, downstairs from reception and room 9 one floor up from reception)? We did ask to be accommodated in rooms closer together but this, seemingly was impossible, (although room 1 was still empty as guests had not yet arrived). The rooms themselves were basic, clean and comfortable. They did the job, so to speak. We were only supplied with one pillow each which was soft and gave no comfort. The shower was simple to use and gave a lovely constant heat and pressure. shelving or storage in the bathroom would have been welcome as would extra towels. Breakfast was basic but ample. Plenty of extra tea and toast on request. Quite a shock to be charged for breakfast (£3 each) as we left the hotel as we had thought it was included in the room price.

Stayed in a 3 bed room for two nights - £125 over the Easter weekend 2012. The room was tidy and clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and I'd give the shower ten out of ten for temperature and pressure! The breakfast wasn't the best I've ever had but was included in the price of the room and was certainly filling if nothing else.

The hotel is well located to explore the city, pretty central but not noisy at all. Overall, for the price paid, a proper bargain.

The Rennie Mackintosh Hotel in Glasgow is cool. I liked it. It is in a very nice town house, that has gone to seed slightly. For a city centre hotel, this is a good one and very reasonably priced, especially in a city like Glasgow, where I have seen much worse for the same price. My only complaint would be that the breakfast should be included in the room price, even if it was not a good breakfast - everything microwaved hurriedly. It is standard accommodation. No frills. BUT it is being refurbished and we got a fairly good airy (the window has a small hole in it, so literally airy) room on the top floor.
It is close to (not next to) the Glasgow School of Art, but it really has nothing else to do with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. There are a few bits and bobs lying around the hotel that are cheap reproductions of something that looks like it could have been inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh art. There are brass plaques all over the place reminding the visitor that this resembles the style of Rennie Mackintosh. It is a funny place... very entertaining for what it is not. So yes, we like it and will go back.

Room Tip: Second floor - refurbished and more modern. Ground floor, very big room.
