Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Margaret on Reception. The double room on the ground floor was small and adequate only for one person, and the shower room was fine. Both were clean. However the paper thin walls did not mask the heavy snoring from the room next door which meant my sleep was disturbed - sounded like the person was in the room with me!
Breakfast was ok, though billed as 'Scottish' but I couldn't spot the difference! The hotel location is great, however it's for the fit and healthy - long uphill climb from the railway station, main streets and surrounding area, two sets of steps before you enter the hotel and there is no lift. Unfortunately the ground floor and journey to the basement dining room smelled damp and mouldy which was off-putting and unpleasant. This hotel (B&B really) needs some money spending on it!More
