“Enjoyed Jack Vettriano”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

Visited mainly to see the Jack Vettriano exhibition, which we enjoyed very much. There's a lot more to him than just the popular 40's beach scenes. Spent a little time in the Art Gallery to see Christ of St John of the Cross by Dali and some french impressionists, but ran out of time on this visit. Will spend more time here next time.

“Jack Vettriano, retrospective gets 2 thumbs up!”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

As the name implies this is both an art and natural history museum. It is free with a suggested 3 GBP donation. As far as art goes there is a fine array from regional fine artists, The Glasgow Boys to French Impressionists, to Van Gogh and Dali's "Christ of St. John of the Cross". Currently there is a Vettriano retrospective housed on the lower level. I was not previously aware of his art, but I'm now a fan of this Scottish artist after viewing the many fine works on display.
There are also several quality exhibits devoted to local and regional history, design, and natural history.
An excellent way to spend an afternoon!

“Superb Museum, Art Gallery - and It's Free!!”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

As kids in Glasgow the Art Gallery was our favourite visit on a boring Sunday afternoon, xx years later we returned to find that the magic was still there and that the whole experience was as exciting now as it was all those years ago! We spent a Sunday afternoon there admiring the Jack Vettriano exhibition and listening to an organ recital from the gallery. It was surprising to find that the cafeterias were very reasonably priced - particularly when there was no entrance charge to the museum. Informative staff and enthusiastic guides made for a great day out. One of Glasgow's best.

“Lovely to visit”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

A nice 20-30 min walk from Central Glasgow brings you to this lovely museum. Large enough to have something for everyone and yet still small enough to see most in half a day. The mixture of modern art 'installations' transposed alongside natural history and art exhibits examples the sort of fun museum it is. We were dated to a live organ recital whilst having a cup of tea and then looked at the work of the Glasgow Boys before viewing the Dali Christ on the Cross. All in all well worth the visit, and it's free!
