The pictures advertising this place seem to suggest it's more of a museum that also has art. When we went it seemed a lot more arty than I was expecting. The place was a labyrinth and finding the toilets (including differing directions from two staff members) was very difficult. We didn't stay long.

Love the Kelvingrove, been going for more than 40 years so the Mackintosh exhibition was another excuse.
Great exhibition in the downstairs space, well laid out & informative. Plenty of staff on hand to answer questions & glad to see lots of tourists enjoying it as well as locals.
Also glad to see Dali’s Christ on the Cross back in its rightful place.
As usual too much to see on one visit so won’t be long til we return

This museum is great because there is a good variety of things to see. We were excited to see the special Charles Rennie Mackintosh Exhibit- which was stunning. They have a good permanent collection with his furniture and his wife's art as well. There are lots of great dutch paintings and a wonderful section on Scottish history. The gift shop is also well stocked with Charles Rennie Mackintosh gifts. If you are not familiar with his work, look him up. A mix of modernism with some romance and art nouveau which was inspired by his wife. His unique furniture design actually predates the similar work of Frank Llyod Wright. He created what is now known as the Glasgow Style. The museum is also tucked perfectly along the Kelvingrove Park so you can stroll a bit outside when you are done at the museum.
