“Really Really Good Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2011

Stayed here for one night for a night away with my partner. Hotel is very easy to find and parking is great. Checked in early evening and receptionist was friendly. The room was spotless and a plus for us that it was a smoking room. Rooms are big but the bathroom was a bit small for my liking. The noise from outside is as much as you would expect being next to a main road but it wasnt a problem for us at all. The bar prices were a bit expensive and the food was over priced but the 24 hour room service is great and it was lovely when it arrived. We didnt have breakfast in the morning as we were in a rush but it looked reasonable and we will definately be back to stay again soon...think we have found the perfect getaway hotel for us!

My grandfather was dying in hospital so raced up to be with him. The hotel could not have been any closer. Staff where great just leaving us to it even let me check it very late at night and allowed us to rebook the room as we went along (we did not know how long he was going to last) my mum was given discounts on her room as she stayed there for a nearly a week. When my grandfather passed away they let us have slightly later check out as he passed away in the morning so we could get our stuff ready. Highly recommend for those having to visit hospital. Also stayed one night with my wee daughter first hotel that i have stayed in that left towels out for a baby !!

3-star (some 4-star bits) for 2-star prices. "Pond" clearly keeps its prices very competitive, 2 nights for 1 offers, with large groups and what that brings. For us, we had a peaceful nights sleep in a good bed, very clean room and hotel. Didn't use bar, restaurant or even breakfast, just the night's sleep. Location is a bit odd next to a hospital (but well off any noisy roads) but what do you expect for this price. Good free parking. You can stay more central but for a lot more money. Just down the road, Byres Road and Gt Western Rd student area and Botanic gardens. Will use again when need a reliable 'budget' night.

Stayed one night (Saturday) arrived a few hours before check in and reception staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful! Managed to get us booked in straight away which was appreciated after a long drive. The hotel isn't central but wasnt a problem a 5 min walk to the train station and trains run very frequently to get you into town.
I will agree with everyone else that the walls were very thin and you could hear EVERYTHING! I suggest some earplugs if you think that may be an issue. Overall a great hotel, excellent staff and will definitely stay again.

Stayed one night, close to the nighlife in Glasgow's West End. We had a complaint in the morning as the cleaner had started hoovering at 8.30 am on a
Sat morning, though management sorted this out very quickly. Would return. Only other thing - you will hear people in the hall way

Firstly the location, it is situated in the West End which is supposed to be a good area of town. I found it too far out, you have to get a taxi to get to any shops, bars or restaurants. Secondly the grounds have a car park which open to the paying public during the day so parking spaces are in demand.
Staff within the hotel are polite and are willing to go that extra mile for guests.
The furnishings in the lobby and bar are excellent but the corridors and stairwells need to be updated, the carpets are well worm and brown solid doors ruin the look.
Our room was adequate with a flat screen, tea making facilities and a ensuite. The bed was comfortable and clean. There is plenty of reading material on sites within Scotland and local tourists attractions.
The hotel is noisy, when people walk down the corridor you can hear the stomps, you can hear doors closing and we could hear other peoples televisions.

I have stayed here before and reviewed it before. This time, having stayed in a few Premier Inns recently, I thought how good value the Pond is. I got a very good rate for DBB was undercut others, and the food, service, cleanliness etc was all at a high level. It is not centra which must be its only minus point but it was near my destination for work, I found the rooms well equipped and overall quiet. I certainly would not hesitate to recommend it to a colleague- really dont let that 60s outside put you off!
