I stayed in this hotel for around £65 for one night including breakfast.

The hotel is quite tired looking and does have small rooms - smaller than they look online. The location is excellent for Central and Queen St stations, and that was my primary reason for choosing this hotel. I am also a member of Accor's LeClub which influenced my decision.

Receptionist was a little nervous but perfectly polite and I was checked in with minimum fuss. Breakfast was also fine, good but not brilliant.

Overall a fair hotel and if you can find a cheap price then why not?

If there's one thing I could suggest to Accor it would be to get a refurb done!

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at the Mercure Glasgow City hotel.

I was pleased that you were able to take advantage of the hotel's ideal central location. The building itself is of an older design and as such the room sizes can vary.
I will ensure that your other comments are passed on as required.

I hope you will choose to stay with us again in the future.

Thanks again

Smallish room , but fine, could do with a bit of a refresh, was near the lift which was very noisy all night with various mechanical noises.

Very central and useful car park and breakfast was very good and good value at £7

Room Tip: Ask for one well away from the lift!

Stayed here on an overnight when we had had the snow, although there was nine in Glasgow. I was relieved to find that the hotel was really close to the city centre and the shops you might need. I seem to always experience the same problems reflecting on my other reviews but the room key didn't work so I had to go back down to reception to gate it sorted.
As this has happened at another UK hotel since, I recall that this hotels reception staff were not as forthcoming as they might have been;?thye did apologise but didn't send anyone up to check that the keys would work once replaced.

Apart from the limited access if you have mobility problems ( very heavy front doors, ramped access to the side and not obvious when entering), the hotel was fine, the room was clean and comfortable and the food was fine

Dear Guest

Many thanks for sharing your experience at the Mercure Glasgow City hotel.

Glasgow did seem to escape much of the snow fall this winter with very little falling in and around the city.
I am sorry that you had some issues with the room key. Normally we would dispatch a member of the team to ensure that a newly coded key would operate as it should, I am sorry that this was not the case.
Usually, the key has come into contact with an electro-magnetic device such as a cellular telephone, which can cause the key card to de-code and stop working in the bedroom doors. We find that simply re-coding the key, solves the problem in most cases.

Thanks again for your comments and I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future.

Kind regards

This hotel is near not only the city centre but also the restaurant/bar area (Merchant City). Ideal for stopping the car and have nice strolls along Glasgow. The car park is a very good asset. The room isn´t very large (it´s actually a bit small) but the bed is very confortable. Great value for money. In my room there were no noises, had a very good night sleep.

We've stayed twice at this hotel when sightseeing in Glasgow (4 nights each time). Although it's at the medium end of the price range, the facilities are fair. The double rooms are moderate in size but seem smallish because of the large bed - but clean and well serviced. There is a small restaurant. Menu is limited but food well and freshly cooked. Location wise, for central Glasgow it would be hard to beat being mid way between the Central and Queen Street stations if travelling by train. It's five minutes walk from the starting point of the hop on hop off bus which is pretty good value at £12 for 2 consecutive days travel. A number of regular buses stop directly opposite.

This hotel was very centrally located & was a great base for the meetings that I had. Although I couldn't always get a parking space as it is only a small car park the NCP was only £12 per 24 hours which was less than a 5 minute walk away. It was very good value for money with an average rate of £50 per room per night. However, I would say that the rooms are on the small side with no where to put your case & no drawers to unpack your stuff or even a wardrobe, just a few hangers in a recess. If you were just 1 night on your own no problem but with more than 1 person for more than 1 night it might become a little too claustrophobic. It was also quite a noisy hotel with people coming & going until the early hours of the morning- maybe a little more soundproofing is required.
