“A Rainy Stay in Glasgow”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Surprised at the change in the weather, rain and a cold wind. The Executive lounge was a big improvement at least it was only available for Hilton Honours not like Venice!!! and provided enjoyable snacks and drinks nearly all day. Our room was on the 9th floor and it was comfortable and clean (there are no views from this hotel but building sights and motorway). We had problems with the sink plug and toilet but these were rectified immediately when reported to reception. Breakfast was in the main dining room and provided a good choice of well cooked food. The scrambled egg and bacon were delicious!!

Dining room staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble some staff were more efficient and areas of the dining room were cleared quicker than others. Nothing worse than old food and used crockery left lying around ugh!!! The hotel was extremely busy and customers were mainly from business and conference meetings etc. Overall a pleasant stay and easy to get a bus to the Airport..

Room Tip: Rooms are comfortable and well decorated and kept clean executive rooms are on the top three floors

Stayed 1 night using Hilton Honors points so only had to pay for 2 adults breakfasts as 2 kids eat and stay free.

Very welcoming and efficient at reception check-in. Room lovely decor, clean and beautifully maintained. Housekeeping staff great, quickly arriving with extra pillows as requested. In room refreshment tray had the extra cups, biscuits etc added to the tray for the children. Very few hotels remember to do this when a double room is being used for a family.

Breakfast out of this world! I don't think there could have been anything you could have wanted that wasn't offered or made freshly for you if you asked. Nowhere I have ever been comes close to the Hilton breakfast.

Used the gym and leisure centre (with pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room). Both well equipped and clean.

Staff all very friendly and helpful but I would expect that in a 5 star hotel. Bar prices were also what can be expected of a 5 star hotel but this was a treat and we didn't have to pay for the room.

All in all a great relaxing night away with the kids in luxurious surroundings.

Room Tip: I am sure they will all be of a high standard

I am surprised this hotel retains its 5star rate there used to be three restaurants one for fine dining now. There is one restaurant there are no tablecloths the cutlery is presented in a rolled up napkin and the coffee comes in a thick mug with Costa printed on the side I had a cleanliness issue with my executive roomThe executive lounge has been moved to a room on the ground floor with No Windows the wine served there is of poor quality both white and red are undrinkable. the spa is garish and not at all relaxing the staff and the treatment I had were both indifferent there are no changing rooms clients clothes are hung on hooks on the wall of the treatment rooms the ŵuexperience is to be endured rather than enjoyed I cannot believe how the ambiance of the hotel has changed I certainly do not wish to return

Room Tip: Try another hotel.

I constantly travel for work and am in hotels 3-4 nights a week clocking up over 150 room nights last year. I have stayed in the Hilton in Glasgow a number of times over the years.
As this is a Hilton product I knew I would be safe, the hotel is just off the M8 motorway and has underground parking with a reduced rate for guests. Overall the hotel is quite nice, and has gone through some upgrading in recent months. Always upon going to reception I am greeted immediately by the staff who issued me as a Diamond HH member with my welcome letter, complimentary Wi-Fi code and sometimes an upgrade. The exec lounge is on the ground floor on the far left as you walk in and accessed by room key. The rooms are accessed through 2 lifts which can be a little temperamental.

Service
Service was as expected at a Hilton. The concierges always get you taxis if required.

Food
Breakfast and dinner is towards the back of the ground floor. There is a full cooked breakfast, other hot food stuff, breads and drinks, yoghurts, et etc. Some standard stuff from my experience but also some nice touches with the hot food.

Value
Generally very good value at the lower end which can range from £89-200 per night. Seems to fill up quickly so book early for cheaper rates. There is a new Hilton product in the centre of town which is further out – I would choose here.

Sleep Quality
Sleep quality for me is generally very good.

Cleanliness
Very clean

Location
Great for the city centre..

Rooms
I was in various rooms. All of them have a good sized bed, LCD TV with internet and a desk to work at. The rooms can be a little hot and the air con in my experience is not always at its best.

General
Nice clean hotel with good service in a good location.

Room Tip: High floor to get a good view

Things I like at this hotel, the pool great for lap swimming. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good and the coffee is great. There is a nice little gift shop on-site. love the black out curtains as I am a day sleeper.
Things that could use improvement.
Rooms 1303, 1403, 1502 internet connection is not good, it keeps dropping off line. This was brought to the attention of the staff and I hope improvements will be made.
The location is above a busy road but the windows are double pane and noise is not an issue. Parking is limited, short walk to train, shops and restaurants
The A/C in the rooms is good, though the unit in room 1403 was a bit noisy. This was also brought to the attention of the staff and was worked on.
The lower level floors appear to have gone through a renovation. Upper floors not yet renovated.

Room Tip: If you need reliable internet do not stay in 1403, 1502 or 1303.
