“fantastic!”
Reviewed 3 August 2009

we stayed here on our wedding night. we were welcomed warmly by the staff, checked in quickly and were ungraded to a massive room on the top floor with a massive panoramic window and balcony - it had a great view over Glasgow! The room was lovely and the bed was very comfy.

Had breakfast delivered to the room, it was very hot and delicious.

The hotel itself is very modern and clean.

Highly recommended!

Hilton's a brand. Sometimes the brand is let down by lower standards. Having travelled extensively in the USA I'm well aware of how it has been degraded and I see Hiltons in UK that are really just glorified Pemier Inns.
This isn't one of them.
Above average rooms.
Concierge and Reception service excellent.

Buffet breakfast vast. Really peppery haggis to go with the sausages bacon and eggs. (They could have been warmer the last time I was there - but thats me being really critical). Chef on hand to make up your personal omellette. If you are an Exec floor, the Exec lounge is above average but the free breakfast is worth passing on for the buffet. Just skip lunch after.

This isnt a boutique hotel. Its not even a special 5 star experience. It is however an above average Hilton experience.

Tips:
Do not walk to the hotel, Glasgow's compact, use the black cabs. The hotel is very central but not pedestrian friendly.
Do ask for a ride that takes you down the swicthbacks. Its San Francisco in Scotland.

Dining at the hotel's all well and good but I'd get a £8 cab to the University Quarter having booked a table at the Ubiqitious Chip. (Google 4 details). End the meal in the upstairs bar and ask the barman about the "tour of Islay".
Outside "The Chip" is Scotland fused with the very best of youth vitality. If you are up to it, pub crawl the cobbled street and soak up the atmosphere. Then return to the Hilton for a quiet and comfortable nights sleep. I did.

I have stayed here several times, and the standard is what you would expect; good size rooms, excellent food in restaurants, very good and attentive staff.

However, travelling to the hotel by foot, requires you to walk under the "flyover" for the motorway, and through the basement. Hilton really ought to think about doing something about that. - Better to get a taxi to the hotel, even if it is in easy striking distance from the city centre.

One little complaint though, I was having a late drink in the bar with my colleagues, and the bar staff were more intent in clearing up than actually serving the customers, specifically with clattering and crashing empty bottles into the bin - we could hardly hear ourselves over the noise.

We stayed here in May 09 of our honeymoon, and they granted us every courtesy. The view was excellent, the food marvelous, the staff excellent. We weren't keen to go out at night, but there was no need.

The service was great; the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was smooth and quick.

The room was really comfortable and clean and just what I wanted for a comfortable night's sleep. Everything very high standard but relaxed.

The hotel has it's own secure underground car park (think it was £10 for the night which was fine). Situated in the centre of town, it's a short walk from Sauchiehall Street and the centre of town and a short taxi ride from the SECC,

Overall I had a very comfortable and realxing stay.

Very nice hotel. Our room was on 17th floor with queensize bed and sofa bed. Even with sofa bed made up the room was still a decent size. Mini bar expensive as is usual in most hotels. Pool open in evening and was never crowded. There is also sauna, steam room and gym. Breakfast lovely as was evening meal in restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. 10 mins walk to shops and taxis always outside hotel. Parking under hotel at £10 a night.

We stayed there on the occasion of my son's graduation and were so disappointed. There was conflicting info on website about smoking/non smoking rooms so i booked by telephone and was told all rooms in the hotel were non smoking, but when we arrived to check in there were only non smoking rooms left. The desk clerk couldn't have cared less and more or less told us we could take it or leave it. The rooms were stinking of cigarette smoke and so were we by the next morning. I have no idea where the hotel gets it's five stars. I have had better rooms in travel inns. The lobby is nothing special, the room was basic with few facilities We had a meal in Cameron's restaurant and it was not bad, apart from the fact that we had to send one of the steaks back as it was not cooked as expected. There was no atmosphere in the bar and the whole hotel lacked the five star label. We wrote to the general manager to complain and we got a standard letter apologising and offering a room upgrade the next time we stay there. We will not be taking him up on his offer as i would not stay in a hilton hotel anywhere again.
