“Great value with a touch of class”
Reviewed 2 April 2013

Just back from a night in one of Executive suites. Warm welcome given as we were 2 hours early. They took our bags and pointed us in the direction of the lounge to get some refreshments before we hit the shops. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated with everything that you would need. The staff in the lounge were attentive and friendly catering for all our needs.
And so to bed for a great comfortable nights sleep.
Breakfast in the skyline restaurant- what a view. This to me was the only slight let down. Staff as usual excellent however for the class of the hotel i did expect butchers quality sausages rather than the very ordinary ones offered. The bacon was a bit dry ( that only comes from sitting in a buffet) however on the positive slant the continental selection especially the fresh fruit was great.
Value for money and classy

Room Tip: Treat yourself to a better room it's worth it.

We enjoyed our stay, staff very pleasant. The hotel is clean but is well worn in certain areas. Many handles were missing from the furniture in our room, the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant (not a pleasant find!!) and there was only one set of towels however another set was swiftly delivered when we rang reception. We had the evening meal which was just average but enjoyed the breakfast. All in all we felt we had good value and would stay again as location is geeat

Thanks for your comments, please accept my apologies for the unemptied bin in your room and missing handles, this is certianly not the image we wish to project. I can assure you this is not the norm at the Carlton George. I look forward to welcoming you back on your next stay, I'm sure you will have a more typical, positive experience in the future.

Stayed one night on business. Great location in the centre of Glasgow, surrounded by interesting and picturesque historic buildings....not the sense of being in a concrete jungle you can get in other parts of Glasgow. Check in staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were of a good size and very well furnished. Complimentary mini bar was a welcome surprise, as was the complimentary bar on the 7th floor of the hotel. Definitely one to head back to next time i'm in Glasgow.

where to start!!! Location , central out of the train station cross the road and you are there. Small shops and chain stores all around the area. We were staying as part of a large wedding party so we had a very good deal on room costs. Had i have known the quality of everything i would have demanded to pay more. Arrival and check in were brilliant the front of house guys were all fabulous. The entrance lobby is not huge it is however warm and welcoming but belies the rest of the experience. The double room was sumptuous well decorated clean and inviting. What makes this special is all the added extras. Free mini bar including decanters of spirits,!! Bathroom was well lit usual comp toiletries and then the towels so thick and fluffy and even comp slippers. Breakfast was as expected wonderful. Scrambled eggs served as standard with buffet but want them cooked another way and of course its no problem. Even the sausages were great. Free drink ticket to Waxys the bar connected to the hotel. The ownly small negative is there was not many teabags/coffees etc. I didnt ask for more but another guest did and there was no problem getting more. I could go on but sure you get the gist that this is a great place to stay.

After staying at Banks Mansion, Amsterdam, the year before, it was an easy choice to make our stay in Glasgow at the Carlton George. Even though you are in the very centre of the city, this is a quiet, relaxing place to come back to after a day touring or sightseeing around the town. The staff were friendly and the lounge on the 7th floor was very comfortable. We had shifted to the Carlton George from the Marriott where we stayed on our Insight Tour. Glad we moved because the position is so much better. Comfortable beds and good eateries nearby.

Firstly location is magnificent- a stones throw away from central station and in the best part of Glasgow.

As an adding Bonus it was litetrally on top of Waxy O'connors Irish Bar.This bar has a total of nine different bars inside with something for everyone- you will get lost.

If you failed to find a restaurant and there are many all around then there is a fish and chip shop at teh end of the block 20 yards away.

Room and decor are excellent. There is a free plugin wi fi cable and cable TV in room. What I have not encountered before is a "completely free mini bar". Now here comes something else you dont see very often- in the room you have a cabinet with three decanters containing unlimited Vodka, Gin and Scotch. WOW.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: all good rooms
