Glasgow is a fantastic place to go for Christmas shopping and the Carlton George is fantastically placed as it is in the middle of the shopping district. The staff are VERY helpful and friendly especially Hector who could not do enough for us. This was the third time we have been and will definitely return. I would also recommend upgrading the rooms to executive rooms as you have the benefit of the use of the lounge with free drinks. Brilliant.

Fantastic location as the airport shuttle bus drops outside and Queen Street station is literally round the corner. Lots of restaurants, shops, coffee shops etc within one hundred feet, let alone further. Greeting was friendly and the reception small but stylish. Room was large but then they bizarrely gave us a disabled one. Nice big, comfortable bed. Shower over the bath. Toiletries mediocre. No fancy extras here! Warm towel rail but room very hot so we had to open the window which was then noisy. Big plus was the minibar was free and there were decanters of gin, vodka and whisky for you to help yourself to, again all free. We had a gin and tonic each and a quarter bottle of wine before we went out each evening and a nice cold orange juice each morning. Lovely! We didn't have breakfast as there is a Sainsburys local opposite with nice croissants and a Starbucks round the corner for a decent flat white. On the last day they stored our bags after we checked out and offered the use of the free wi fi and free tea and coffee lounge before we had to leave for the airport mid afternoon. All in all, we will be back!

Stayed a night here whilst in town for a wedding. Room is fine and plenty of included booze if you get the chance! Main issue we had was at breakfast. It is a small place so told no tables left and had to sit next door to wait. Had a coffee and waited about 5 minutes to be called back. Unfortunately they did not have much left! Very few cooked items left in the buffet so several in the party had to wait. Strange system of having to order your egg from a waitress even though the chef is there in front of you! He declines to take your order - all a bit odd.

Took my elderly Mum away for an overnight stay/shopping trip and had a great experience at this lovely hotel. Only 2 min walk from Queen St station and very central for shops. The warm welcome we received from the guy at reception (sorry but can't remember his name) and the attentiveness shown to us made our stay most enjoyable. We had access to the executive lounge while our room was made ready and enjoyed some delicious coffee and pastries. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. We appreciated the large, fluffy towels, slippers and plentiful toiletries in the bathroom. The decanters of spirits and free mini bar were a very pleasant surprise and a lovely way to unwind at the end of a busy day of shopping. I have already sung the hotels praises to friends and family and look forward to returning soon.

I have stayed in most of the hotels in Glasgow and I can honestly say that the Carlton George is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, as normal I read all of the trip advisors reviews and going by the reviews it looked good with the free whisky, gin, and vodka decanters in the room plus a free mini fridge, you can imagine my disappointment when I found out that the decanters only hold about three small drinks and they are filled up to the same level each day and the fridge only contains two bottles of beer and a small bottle of wine. The executive lounge ( I don’t know who christened it that )is like a free for all with no seating if you get there 1 hour after it opens, the place is packed to the door and there is no one trying to organise the seating or who has paid for the lounge access and who hasn’t. The rooms are okay and I mean okay we had the Club room which is supposed to be the best rooms, I can tell you that if this is the best room them they need to revise their 4 star policy, we stayed there for 3 nights and if I hadn’t paid in advance I would have left the day I arrived. ( The house keeping is terrible as they only spread up your bed and they don’t clean or renew you used glasses they are left where they are. 0

Room Tip: There is no tip I can give you to get a good room as far as I'm concerned there are no good room...

Michael,

I am sorry that your room was not to your tastes, as you can see from other guest reviews, the majority of people do like our rooms, I personally think Room 409 is a lovely bright room.
I will take your comments on board. We do offer complimentary drinks in the rooms with the decanters of Whisky, Gin and Vodka and a selection of soft drinks, this is something that no other hotel in Glasgow provides.
