Very central, close to train station, shops, great resturants. Very original decor in tartan. We were so jet lagged and the staff were so kind storing our bags until our room was ready. We will stay there again.

This was our second visit and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting Glasgow. 5 min walk from Glasgow central train station. We stayed in a club room which was huge and overlooked West George Street. The best thing about the hotel is the free mini bar and access to the executive lounge with complementary drinks all night!
My parents also came with us and were in an executive room. There wasn't much difference between that and the club room. We had slightly more floor space, crisps and caramel wafers! The only downside was that the room was very warm, even with the air conditioning on cold!
Breakfast was good. Self service. My only complaint was that they allowed the food to run right down before refilling so when I came to eat, there was no black pudding on the 1st morning and no cooked tomatoes on the 2nd day. We ate in the restaurant on the 1st night. Food was very good but a bit 'nouvelle cuisine'. Vegetables and side dishes were extra and had I realised that there were no accompanying vegetables I would have ordered more. Perhaps advice from the waitress would have helped?
We had lunch on room service - no tray charge which was a nice surprise and lovely sandwiches!
The hotel is very central, the staff were very polite and helpful. I just loved the whole weekend. Great value for money and highly recommended!

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. The staff were wonderful, the rooms were clean and for good measure, the mini bar is complimentary. I toured through Scotland for about 2 weeks, staying at different hotels every night and the Carlton George was leaps and bounds better than the rest.

The hotel is located in the city center so it is a short bus/subway ride from anywhere in the city. If you go to Glasgow, you cannot miss with this hotel.

This hotel is in a great location, beside shopping & Queen St. Station. The airport bus stops right outside the hotel.

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We received advise on restaurants from the gentleman on reception - the one we tried (La Vita) not far from the hotel was excellent.

We'll certainly be staying in the Carton George on our next visit to Glasgow.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and would highly recommend The Carlton George Hotel in Glasgow. The day Manager went over and above for us when a sightseeing tour we had booked was cancelled on the morning of the tour. He rang the company for us, assisted to secure a refund and was genuinely extremely sympathetic of our situation. The other staff we met were also all friendly and helpful .

Other positives: lovely large room with free mini-bar, a great King size bed and clean bathroom (bath situated in shower high up so may not suit elderly/disabled people – ask before booking if they have alternate amenities). 5 minute downhill walk from Buchanan train station and 400 meters to information centre in George Square. Lots of TV channels.

Cons: Expensive breakfast (we went elsewhere) and had to pay for wifi (wifi should be included in the room rate, or better yet, free! Free wifi is available from Starbuck’s around the corner – ask about it before you place your coffee order) and the room was a bit hot so we had to keep turning on the air conditioning which made it more comfortable, albeit a tad noisy.

We would indeed recommend the Carlton George; it has been the best hotel we have stayed in to date on our 4 week tour of the UK and Europe, and would indeed return if we are even in Glasgow again.

Thought accommodation - executive room- very stuffy, noisy and dark - mould around the shower end of the bath; breakfast seemed to be mostly self service with horrendous tea in those conference vacuum things; most staff memebers quite helpful except one male evening receptionist; no restaurant service due to wedding and no lounge for guests that we were allowed to use!

A parcel was delivered for me to the hotel. As it wasn't collected immediately staff put it in a safe. When I went to collect it, I was told there was no parcel. Eventually the mistake was discovered and the manager agreed to post the parcel to my home address. The parcel never arrived. Despite assuring me the hotel would pay to replace the contents, this was never done. The manager seemed completely clueless. Frankly, they are not to be trusted!
