“Good hotel, shame about the pool”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2011

We enjoyed our stay at the Marriot. The reception & bar area on entering were very nice, our check in was dealt with quickly & the staff were very helpful & friendly.
Our room was a good size with a nice big bed, decent bathroom, tea & coffee making facilities etc. The only thing with the room (& its by no means limited to just this hotel) is that despite having individually controlled air con it NEVER manages to sufficiently cool the room down so have knocked points off as it was far too hot to get a good nights sleep.
The leisure facilities here unfortunately aren’t great. The trek to the pool from both the main body of the hotel & from the changing rooms is just ridiculous & very, very badly planned. The pool water wasn’t very warm & if you had very young children it would be no use for them. Either the steam room or the sauna (cant remember which) was also out of order when we were there.
Drinks prices at the bar were pretty reasonable & the staff were nice. There was plenty choice from the buffet at breakfast time.
The hotel is in a great location, just off the motorway & not at all far from the city centre or the SECC. Onsite parking is £8 a day & there are plenty spaces which is always very handy.

Standard marriot rooms and reception areas but the staff are all so customer centric and genuine makes you want to come back. Rooms are clean and standard Marriott. I've only eaten in the bar but that's good. Spent 1 night in holiday inn as thats where my point loyalties lie but checked out early as pound for pound Marriott was better.

Stayed in Glasgow Marriott for 2 nights during my recent trip to scotland. It is a nice hotel close to the city center. It is also conveniently located near the Anderston station and the M8- so doesnt matter if you are driving or using the trains, this hotel is very well located.
It is about a 10 min walk from the town center, so nicely located if you fancy going out to the town center.

Coming to the hotel itself, this place has the usual Marriott feeling- and thankfully so. A nice pub and an American restaurant, business center. There is also a fitness center if you need to work out.

The prices are a bit on the higher side. The wi-fi is not complementary either. So, overall not a very good value for money proposition.

The rooms are nice, standard and the staff is courteous- typical Marriott.

Overall a decent place on business visits, but a bit expensive.

Although this hotel is only 30 years old, once you go inside you see a lot of dark wood. That sets the tone for what is a pretty traditional business hotel - if you want something contemporary or edgy then it's not the place for you. My 10th floor room was fairly small but had all the usual amenities and was very comfortable indeed. The bed was the biggest I have ever seen.

I used the swimming pool and spa quite a lot and often had the facilities almost entirely to myself. The only thing lacking there was a hot tub.

Service in the hotel was generally very good indeed although the bar staff on the Sunday night were a bit lacklustre. Food was also very good, especially the lavish buffet breakfasts.

The Mariott is about 7 minutes walk from Central Station, which is a blessing as Glasgow is not the quietest place at night. The airport bus is about 5 minutes walk away.

Definitely to be recommended.

Hotel is fantastic location just off M8 and beside Anderston Station and within 10 minute walk to main shopping area or SECC. Bar service was quite slow but otherwise the hotel is fine. Noise levels are really low considering how close it is to the motorway, etc. Really helpful reception staff and although busy at breakfast queues went down really quick.

Standard Marriott hotel. Good bar area and two restaurants (I think). Didn't get up in time in the morning to experience the gym, as couldn't leave the bed, which was as amazingly comfortable as ever (you can buy the bedding from Marriott hotels). Great bathroom, loving the magnified mirror, which is excellent when shaving.

Polite staff, if anything perhaps overly attentive in bar (told to sit down and get table etc when trying to order a pint at the bar - not my style!)

Although expensive, company was paying. But the biggest turnoff by far is the £15 nightly fee for wi-fi access. That my company will not - and nor will I ever, pay. For that reason alone this is a great place to stay for a night, but I wouldn't want to be there alone for a whole week.

As for location, bottom end of Argyle St - 10 minute walk from the centre of Glasgow's nighttime debauchery!
