“Excellent staff and service”
Reviewed 30 October 2010

As a platinum member I stay at many marriotts and from the minute I arrived at Glasgow the staff and the service were excellent. From helping with bags, checking in, service in executive lounge through to breakfast manager in the morning all first class. The executive lounge chap serving breakfast on Friday the 29th was superb.

The only slight negative was that parking gas gone up to £6 per might and we had difficulty getting parked due to Scottish athletics event on but apart from that fab service and staff.

Quality hotel at bargain prices! Glasgow Marriott fully deserves the great reviews it receives. It's a very noce hotel and it's location is convenient for the city centre and travel hubs. A mere five minute walk to the Airport Flyer bus stop or about 8 mins to Central train station. The rooms are very nice, extremely comfortable and cosy. The brekfast was absolutely excellent and all the staff I encountered were very friendly. Only glitch was the housekeeping lady who knocked (and actually proceeded to open) our room door and wanted to clean the room at precisely 08.00 on a Sunday morning. Hmmm. .

We picked the Marriott without looking at Tripadvisor reviews, and I remember commenting upon arrival that some of the big hotels like this are quite old and average in the big cities. Spot on!

The service wasn't what I was used to in similar hotels elsewhere- upon arrival there was no where to pull up and check in, so I had to race inside, line up and ask what to do with our car whilst checking in. I was told to park, the only available spot being right around the back, making it a long walk with heavy bags to get to our room.

Room was quite small and clearly in need of a renovation. If the room was cheap it would have been ok, but we had more comforts, size and modern features in a budget hotel charging half the price previously! I couldn't get into the fridge, again lining up downstairs to ask about it, to be told there were no fridges in the rooms anymore and that it should have been sealed off for a pending (much needed) renovation.

On the plus side- delicious breakfast in their restaurant, very comfortable bed, great water pressure and a good location for proximity to highway and a short walk into the hype of town. However, not really sure it was value for money.

This hotel is over priced and not content with that hit their customers with every nasty little extra they can. £6.00 to park in the hotel car park which is a mile out of town!!! £15.00 for internet access on top of your already expensive room rate. The rooms are tired and badly in need of refurbishment. My room was small, furnuture chipped, carpet stained, mini-bar screwed shut because they were in the process of removing them. The satff are very friendly but the place is a rip off. Absolutely the worst business hotel in the centre of Glasgow and the are on the far edge of the centre. Book anywhere else in town is my advice. And to the management - get real. I will never be back and the biggest favour I can do for my fellow travellers is to advise them to stay away.

This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of central Glasgow, and the 'Glasgow flyer' shuttle bus makes it easy to get to and from the airport.
The hotel itself is all you'd expect from a Marriott - friendly staff, comfortable public areas and clean, spacious, comfortable bedrooms. The breakfast at this location is particularly noteworthy as being very good.
