“Ideal location for an overnight stay in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2011

This hotel has had a few negative reviews recently - basically, if you want peace and quiet, why would you choose a hotel in the centre of Glasgow?!

For a place to sleep after a gig or a night out in the city it is perfect and at an excellent price. The hotel is located very close to all the main attractions of Glasgow - stations, shopping, nightlife, SECC, etc - without being in a 'rough' or particularly noisy area. Buses and taxis are always around but it's possible to walk to most places. There is even a Tesco Express right across the road for an alternative (and cheaper) breakfast!

There are the usual things to avoid - room next to the lift or overlooking the air con units at the back - but even the road noise isn't too bad. The rooms are clean and tidy and well equipped - maybe on the small side but again, what do you expect? The staff are really friendly, checking in was smooth and the 12noon checkout time was really handy - I was able to explore a bit in the morning then come back for my bags before heading to the station.

Despite the large choice of budget hotels in the area, I had no regrets choosing this one and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter, but always avoid being near the lift

Overall good hotel in a good location. Question marks about room maintenance and customer service. Little things make a big difference and they would do well to remember this. One lift out of two not working for the third day when we left. Mirror in bathroom steams up badly so difficult to shave - extractor fan not working. Kettle in room not functioning and had a dangerous burning smell. Reported to reception who promised action but took none so no coffee but more importantly at least the room did not go on fire.

Stayed on a Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday night do not expect any sleep if you have a room on the James Watt Street side. Constant shouting, swearing and fighting going on in the street below and Argyle Street. Sunday was a little quieter under the Monday morning (Very early), when the Rubbish Collection is made. Breakfast was not bad and the Staff were friendly enough, room was basic. It is just the location that lets it down

Room Tip: Stay away from the James Watt Street side and you might get some sleep

Nothing special your standard Premier Inn decent location, i was annoyed you couldn't get a drink on Sunday before 12 midday whereas in the Raddison Blu up the road you can if your a resident, same situation on Sunday night residents bar not open, isn't the whole point of having a residents bar so guests can get an early or late drink if they wish.

Rooms are standard and on the small side, breakfast was nice enough as were the staff but that;s as far as i would go with any sort of positives.

Booked this room for 1 night. Arrived at 11.30am and was able to check in early which was a great help. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was Friday night so the hotel was noisy and could do with better room sound proofing for those who want a quieter night
