I was looking forward to staying here given it's no.1 rating on TripAdvisor. There's nothing necessarily *that* wrong with the hotel, but there are better places in town. Sleep quality was poor given the amount of noise both from the corridor and the room next door - this wasn't people shouting, just the amount of movement on the floorboards made it more like staying in a house than a decent hotel. (Sitting at the desk, I could feel the chair shaking as the person next door walked around!)
Presentation wise, the decor is nice - not as outrageous as Malmaison, but certainly not a beige box room that would typify many city centre hotels. Nice shower, fluffy towels & good quality bedding.
This is a minor point, but when the hotel has gone for a funky design, put a door on the office behind reception - peering into an unsightly pile of multicoloured files really does erode the perception.
