We were going to a play and arrived 2 hours early (don't ask) so we decided to walk across the street to the botanic gardens. We spent the full 2 hours walking through the gardens. It's the most beautiful place in Glasgow. By far. The greenhouse was awesome too. Well kept and just fabulous.

A lovely place to wander round if you are interested in plants that are not native to the UK. Not spectacularly well organized, and a lot of the plants had very little information associated. There are zones that help to understand a little about the habitats involved but this is more of a genteel preservation attempt that comes across as a well meaning but amateurish effort. Dont expect modern technology based curation.

Good for a rainy day and even better if you can sit in the sun afterwards. Very close to restaurants, bars and stores on Byres Road and the charming little espresso bar at the gates that is built into an old Police box like the TV show Dr Who.

I have known this beautiful park since childhood. Explored its historic "hot houses", once tried to climb the "Monkey Puzzle" tree, wandered the banks of nearby River Kelvin. Happy to report Botanic Gardens gardeners keep the sprawling retreat just ever charming, flower beds a riot of color, grasses inviting a sun bathed hour. Bring your sweetheart, wife, kids – and yer dog - Total escape from hurly burly of city life, yet so close to bust Byres Road and the enchanting West End. Top marks to Glasgow!

Nice, relaxing place. Free entry. Lots of interesting plants to see from all over the world. Different areas to explore. Well maintained. Lovely park, which is great for a wander on a sunny day.

We particularly enjoyed exploring the Kibble Palace and green houses with the great variety of plants of wide-ranging origins on display. We also visited the tea room where we found the food acceptable however the service was rather slow. Never the less, a nice place to visit.
