Came across this hotel by mistake one day. Very friendly helpful staff, nice atmosphere, good food and the best bit of all was its also a local pub with very friendly regulars. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Never stayed overnight just had food and drinks but would definately come back. Its not far from the City Centre and its also in a very nice area, next to the Cathedral and the Necropilis.

This unusual hotel is in a quiet location, opposite cathedral and necropolis. Beds were comfortable, the full scottish breakfast immense, the bar food really good value, and the staff so friendly. It proved a great place to stay. We'll be back next year.

We stayed at the Cathedral House Hotel for 3 nights, including New Year's Eve. I had made the reservation quite some time ago and arrived at their door on the 29th of December to find a hand-scribbled note that the hotel was closed because of broken water mains, with a number to call. I did, and they said they had been trying to get in touch via email for 3-4 days but that water was fixed and they did have a room. Well, they had emailed only the day before, and we considered ourselves lucky not to be wandering around Glasgow trying to find a place to stay (something they did not offer to do). So customer service, not the greatest.

It is a great building and we stayed in Room 7 at the top of the hotel (if you have a problem with stairs, this probably isn't the place for you.) The views were great, the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. However, it felt like the room had been partially redone---good bed and linens, trendy wallpaper on one wall, but sort of grubby, lumpy vinyl flooring in the very cold bathroom (couldn't get the radiator to work) and an old couch just covered with a throw.

Breakfast was downstairs in the also very cold dining room. Full english breakfast offered, as well as a sort of limp collection of cereals and old baked goods.

I think at least one night we were the only people staying there--and that, combined with its location near the Cathedral and Necropolis meant it was really quiet.

Easy walk to good restaurants in Merchant City, a bit longer to the city center.

In short, it wasn't a bad experience, but it just felt as if the owners had sort of lost energy (and perhaps the finances) for running the place.

close to Merchant City and the cathedral, the necropolis and the oldest house in Glasgow- we liked the location and felt the hotel had everything we needed - quiet room, nice views and nice to have the bar/cafe/restaurant downstairs...(no noise came up from this to our room!)

Enjoyed a truly wonderful stay, sadly only one night - would have loved a month. Great location, minutes from city centre yet in a wee world of its own at the same time. Super views from room which was lovely, warm comfortable. Majestic bed, big bathroom, good tv, sofa etc. Food very well priced, soup, steak (beef), kangaroo steak and pudding all very yum, Staff all very polite and helpful, well done to you all. Thank you for a great stay.
