We booked Glasgow Central Travelodge 7 months ago to attend commonwealth games events. For a Travelodge it was expensive at £199 per night but we considered that as it was a city centre location with restaurants, bars and shops nearby and easy access via the free games transport, it was worth it.
At 9pm on the night of our arrival, whilst still on the train to Glasgow we were informed that the hotel had overbooked and that we were being moved to a Travelodge 6 miles away. Naturally we complained and asked them to book us into another city centre hotel (there were plenty available) but they refused to do this. Be aware that it is in their terms that they can move you. We felt that to move us 6 miles away from where we had booked to an industrial estate with no public transport is unacceptable.
Travelodge agreed to provide taxis to and from events and the station for the weekend but we spent hours of our weekend waiting for taxis (in the pouring rain!) and sitting in traffic jams. This caused us to miss our train home as well as ruining our weekend.
I would think that there would be a law against this; it is similar to buying something online and then being sent an item of inferior quality 'because the merchandiser puts provision in their terms to allow them to provide something else'. This was NOT what we booked and paid for. To date, Travelodge have not responded to our request for financial compensation.
I will never use Travelodge again.

I recently stayed in Glasgow Central travelodge for the Commonwealth Games, while I know it would of been expensive during this time we paid £180 for one night and I was disgusted with the room. I stayed in a travelodge with it being a chain of hotels and had previously had good experiences, however this did not reach anywhere near the standards!! The room was extremely small which looked out on to a dirty roof which was the same height as our window. (Not very good security) The dressing table was infront of the window so one half of the curtain was cut in half to fit..... Really??? We had to ask for a hair dryer as this wasn't provided in the room as they usually are. We were only provided with two large bath towels (usually there is two smaller towels and also a floor towel for showering). Overall this was a disappointing experience for the price we paid and, on leaving, there was no member of staff to ask us about our stay simply a box stating 'please leave your key in the box'.

The room was clean and tidy although a bit on the small side but overall it was OK, the only issue was our room was at the front of the hotel and as it does not have Air-con you have to leave the window open when it is hot, being on the front the road noise did keep us awake.
The location is excellent being only a 10 minute walk from Queens station and the main shopping area.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back of the hotel

I had a very good overnight stay hotel is spotless and well maintained but was woke up at 9am with the window cleaner .
I had planned on booking this hotel again but feel that £59 is slightly overpriced and now iv looked to rebook and the price has jumped by another £20 a night to £79 don't know if this is due to fair fortnight or because of commonwealth games !

I have stayed in many travelodges in my time as I find they are cheap and cheerful and do the job as a base when on holiday and not spending much time in the hotel. This said, I think we got the worst possible deal with this particular travelodge. Room was tiny - it contained a double bed and that was it - and we could barely walk round it as there was so little room. The tiny window looked out onto the fire escapee and other rooms which looked just as dire as the one we were in. It was very dark and dingy with no sun light coming in and the bathroom - if you could call it that, was right at the door and was again absolutely tiny. Had one drink at the bar which was over priced and had no atmosphere as we were the only people in it. Overall very unimpressed with this travelodge.
