My wife and I recently attended a concert at the Scottish Exhibition Centre in Glasgow and after reading the reviews on your site decided to stay at the Kelvingrove Hotel in Sauchiehall Street. The hotel was within walking distance of the venue and the helpful staff recommended a nearby restuarant where we had a lovely meal. Rooms were clean and the breakfast the next morning was exceptional. Overall we got good value for money and will return when attending future concerts.

Chose the Kelvingrove Hotel after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. My friend and I stayed in a twin room in the hotel. The room consisted of a double bed and single bed, ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. The room was at the back of the hotel and was really quiet. Although the room was not overly big it was far from cramped. Everything in the room and bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order unlike some bigger hotels I have stayed in where you serve yourself from a heated trolley. Staff were really friendly and happy to give advice and directions. We travelled to Glasgow for a concert and were delighted to find how near the Kelvingrove is to the SECC venue, within walking distance. We also found an excellent Thai restaurant in nearby Argyle Street. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough and have already recommended it to family and friends for future visits to Glasgow. I would have no hesitation in staying at the Kelvingrove again.

The Kelvingrove Hotel's location is great; it provides easy access to the gallery and museum as well as several good pubs and restaurants. Its best feature, however, is its exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, who helped us find the best places to go for all our needs. As some other reviewers have noted, the rooms themselves are not necessarily the greatest in the world, but the Kelvingrove is very reasonably priced. To expect luxurious rooms in this location at such a price may not be entirely realistic.

I've stayed here twice and it's an ok guest house, yes the staff are very friendly but in Glasgow that's not all that unusual. I prefer staying in this area than in the city centre.

The resturants and bars on Byres Rd are a 10-15 minute walk away and that's probably what makes it worth staying here. Also it is pretty good value for money compared to what you may be charged in lesser places.

We could not fathom how such delapidated accommodation - which would best be described as an old fashioned guest house, not a hotel - has attracted such rave reviews on this website. Perhaps Glasgow hotels have a generally low standard or perhaps Australians are used to far better...but this place is a "must miss". We arrived well after check in time to be told our room, number five, was not ready, so we were plonked in room 3, which is directly across from reception, the main thoroughfare and next door to the general use toilet with the dining room on the other side. Needless to say, we were able to hear every person who went past/booked in/ate their breakfast as if it was happening in our very room. Having been forced to sleep on top of the covers with our clothing to protect us (a quick look at the duvet revealed many pubic hairs of previous occpuants), we were woken early by a cacophany. Perhaps the worst thing was that the massive, heavy, swing-out windows had broken hinges, making them a decapitation risk. The furniture was tired and from the 1960s, the 'sofa' appeared to be handmade out of chipboard and sofa rugs, and while the staff were friendly enough, the general standard was appalling. Even courtesy toiletries were the most minimal we had ever seen and only half a toilet roll was provided. The only saving grace was that being so vile, we were forced to spend a lot of time seeing the city so we could avoid our room. Our advice: great if you want to be near the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum but make sure you get well drunk at the nearby Ben Nevis whisky bar so you can tolerate the room. Ughhh!

I stayed in this hotel last year and it was is well located away from the noise of busy City Centre and yet still close enough to take advantage of all the ameneties. The staff were fantastic - very helpful and friendly.

The Kelvingrove hotel is in a great spot. Right in between the west end and the city centre, both are within easy walking distance, however there are many good bars / restaurants minutes away. My girlfriend and I stayed in room 2. The double room was small but ample for our 2 night stay as we would not be spending much time at the hotel. Staff are very friendly and more than happy to help. Room / bathroom was spotless and cozy. Good powered shower and a great breakfast which was served to us in our room. We were leaving on the sunday and as we would probably feel a bit worse for ware in the morning I asked If I could have a later check out and offered to pay a little extra. Reception said that was no problem , left at 12:30 and they refused to take any extra payment.
A clean well appointed and welcoming place. If you are on a budget and want more for your money you wont be dissapointed. Will definetly go again.
