“Would not return or recommend”
Reviewed 7 March 2011

I booked this hotel for myself and 6 other members of my family, all we were looking for was a bed for the night and a shower in the morning.

3 out of the 4 rooms never received hot water (although the duty manager boosted the pressure on several occasions), even after waiting an hour no hot water! Not even warm to wash your face! The only reason 1 room received hot water was because they were up at 6am! So if you are an early bird, you maybe okay!

The rooms are not in the best repair neither, paint on the carpet, dirty bathroom floor, hair in the shower tray............ etc!

The hotel is very noisy at the front from traffic and if you have the joy of being close to the kitchen, there is no need to set your alarm clock......... You will be kindly woken up at 730 when prep starts for breakfast! The staff like to shout to each other what they are doing, I could tell you exactly where the fresh orange would be before I entered for breakfast.

I am not a fussy person but I would never recommend this hotel. You will be asked to pay up front, I would suggest you wait until you are checking out. I now have to write to the owner to request a refund!

Got stuck in Glasgow with snow and couldn't get home. Phoned a very friendly lady who said she had rooms available because of weather cancellations.Nice room very clean and quiet at back of hotel. Warm and cosy on a very cold night.Lovely receptionist was serving breakfast to many stranded travellers in the morning. Would definitely stay again if I got stuck at work.

I have stayed here a few times and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

The facilities are basic, but it delivers what it promises and the staff are lovely. It's convenient to both the University of Glasgow and the City Centre and I like the fact that you can park right outside the door (there are meters and restrictions during the day).

Breakfast is cooked to order - no dried out breakfast buffets here.

Good priced hotel for the location. Room was very small with a double bed, adequate furniture, small shower room and LCD TV. Heating was very poor although it was turned on it did not seem to make much difference to the room. Jumping into bed was a shock to the system but it warmed up quickly.
The breakfast was well received in the morning and staff were friendly.

No complaints really and i would return to this hotel.

we me and my husband arrived we were shown our room, it was at the back so nice and quiet. room was very cold, and the reception said the heating is on. so they moved us to another room.well it was a little bit warmer not much.the bathroom you could not get to the toilet because the shower cubical was that big and the sink was very small.and it was all squashed in. the breakfast was the worst one i have ever had, it took 20mins to get ,no toast came until we had eated our breakfast, not one person in the dining room eat there breakfast, so its telling you something. there are only 2 ladies cooking ,reception, and everything else.so thats why things took so long.i used to go to this hotel years ago, but never ever again.

My bedroom was cold (colder than corridor outside room), radiator was luke warm (if on at all), duvet was quite thin so even in bed it felt cold. So, between feeling cold and traffic noise from busy main road outside, had a very bad night sleep.

Hotel has no public areas (no lounge or bar) apart from small reception area and breakfast room. Felt more like a B& B or guest house than a hotel. It looks better in websites than it actually is. Won't be going back!

This is a small bed and breakfast hotel which we chose because of its location and reasonable tariff. It is 10 minutes walk to the Kelvingrove museum and art gallery and 10 minutes by bus/taxi to the centre of Glasgow and there are good eateries in the vicinity. I stayed for 3 nights with my husband and adult son during a very cold spell. Our rooms although not spacious were warm and clean with comfortable beds and well equipped. We had a double room at the back which we chose because it was quieter. The downside was it was not very light. Our son had a larger room at the front which we were advised could be noisy at night but he had no problems. There was free wireless internet connection for our laptops in the reception area. The breakfasts were excellent. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is superb value for money
