“Modern, clean and very friendly staff”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Having stayed at the Grasshoppers Hotel during Easter, we were extremely pleased with our time spent there. However, as it is located on the 6th floor of a building complex, navigation to the front door may be a small challenge for those lacking situational awareness. Keep your eyes up as they do have a banner hanging above. The rooms were clean, fresh and bright. The staff were happy to chat and advise on local attractions and places to eat.
The breakfast served was tasty and well prepared. Attentive staff cleaned up after the guests.
Common room with designer lounges was a great quiet place to unwind with friends, watching the lights of the train station take over the night sky.
Complimentary cupcakes were a lovely touch. Portrait and abstract art lines the walls.
A dream hotel to stay, especially for those that enjoy minimalism.

I stayed here for one night whilst attending a conference in Glasgow. Rooms have everything you need and staff will bring you fresh milk, coffee and shortbread on arrival and as requested. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom small but perfectly formed with a great shower. Breakfast was very tasty and provided a good start to the day. Staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward to coming back and staying again for a leisure weekend in Glasgow.

I found this Hotel recommended as a hidden gem but not for long it said.

It was right the hotel is quite minimalist but has everything you need including free wifi and Sky TV. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. The value is also excellent including breakfast and a dinner option us also available.

There is a lounge with drinks available on request and it is superbly located for Central Glasgow

I am going for a second visit next week I found it so good.

Stayed here for 3 nights in April. Staff were polite, helpful and falling over themselves to sort things out for you. A call to reception brought someone to your door with complimentary freshly ground coffee and milk, as often as you wanted.
The room was modern and clean, and despite some other reviews, we found it quite spacious. Our room faced the street and there was some noise from the street below, when the windows were open, but it didn't really disturb us.
The hotel is on the 6th floor of a block but it felt quite secure, with a front door entry lock and reception constantly monitoring CCTV.
We would heartily recommend the Grasshopper to anyone wanting a city centre hotel in Glasgow.

The room itself was very nice. It was clean and simple with a nice view of the train station roof. We did not try the breakfast as we rather slept a little longer. The complimentary cupcakes had a nice touch to it as well. This hotel could not be more central with the train station just around the corner and the shopping streets just a few streets away. Personally I would however prefer to stay in the west end region, as the city centre is quite grungy (except for the shopping street).

Do not go there, it is the noisiest hotel I have never been. You heard cars and buses from the street above all along the night. It is awful. You can not sleep. The bedroom and the bathroom are very very small.
The breakfast was also very noisy and standard. The room is small with no place for standing.
We never come back.

We stayed at the Grasshopper for 3 non consecutive days. (We stayed one night, then ventured to Islay for a few days, then two more nights). I didn’t garner from my research that the hotel is one floor on top of an office park, so it was a little difficult to find on the street. If you come into the Glasgow train station it is less than a two minute walk which was very convenient. The hotel was clean, physically and in design. It looks like a fancy ikea show floor, comfortable bed, extra pillows would have been nice. The room was very tight, but that seems to the trend through a lot of hotels in Europe. Breakfast was included which was great and it was very delicious and everyone that worked there was so nice and helpful! One thing, I did call ahead to tell them I was checking in late and they didn’t have my reservation that I booked through Travelocity. They were able to fit me in thank goodness, but that was nerve racking. That probably shouldn’t happen again though, since I alerted them to the problem and they were going to contact Travelocity. Overall great value for the price.
