This hotel is a really nice budget variant for 2-3 days. It is located just some blocks away from Charles Rennie Mackintosh house, Kelvingrove museum and University of Glasgow. Hefty breakfast servings, clean and very spacious room.

It took us an 1,5 hour to find this place, because it is located in upper terrace and even locals had no idea where it was. So keep this in mind and search this location with GPS. Lack of elevator is a disavantage especially for those who have heavy luggage. Separate hot & cold faucets/taps in sink was an unpleasant surprise for us.

Paid £49 for a double room here recently (via Laterooms) which is a great price and currently beats others in the Great Western Road vicinity for price, location and cleanliness,

Our room on the second floor was spacious and spotless but I did have two minor complaints. The first was the shower, which looked liked an all singing, all dancing power shower which in reality was pretty poor and either scalding or cool. The second was the lack of a mirror in the room. There was one in the bathroom but thats no good for us girlies who need to to blow dry and straighten our hair. I did raise this with the receptionist who said she would see what she could do but said it was doubtful that one could be moved from another room as they were screwed to the wall. Surely a mirror should be in EVERY room over the dressing table?

Anyway, regardless of the above, I will consider returning on my next visit, unless I can find a cheaper deal, and will request a room with a mirror!

Parking at the back of the hotel was limited but luckily we managed to get a space. Unfortunately the back alley is quite dirty and many of the bins were oversplilling (not the hotel's) with food scattered across it.

Finally, overslept and missed breakfast so can't comment on the turkey rasher / rubbery egg situation!

I booked a family room for four of us - we just needed somewhere near to the university for my son's graduation, and also accessible for the city centre for a meal, etc.

The hotel was very well placed, sitting above the Great Western Road and just round the corner from Byers Road and it's quirky shops and bars, and Hillhead Subway station.

The hotel was welcoming with clean and modern rooms. The staff were friendly.

The breakfast buffet was good - still turkey rashers, but possibly there to cater for all tastes (and religious reasons). However, this is clear on the menu.

I would recommend this hotel - a very good base.

I have stayed twice at this hotel now - predominantly for the standard of rooms and its close proximity to the West End, particularly Byres Road and Botanic Gardens.

I stayed on the top floor (Rm 25) and loved the view from the window - across the rooftops to the distant mountains. The room was of good standard - clean and tidy and all the facilities you would expect at this budget. It was a double room and I was a single traveller so I had plenty of room to move around in and I think it was big enough for two people although there was only a small cupboard for hanging clothes, which might have been insufficient for couples.

The en-suite was a reasonable size and, on first viewing, the shower looked to be "all singing, all dancing", with multiple jets, etc. However, to get the water anywhere near warm/hot the water pressure dropped substantially (little more than a dribble) which rendered all the fancy jets, etc, pointless.

Breakfast was good although I only sampled cereal, yoghurt, fruit and toast and can't therefore comment on the cooked fare. However, the food I saw being served to other guests looked lovely.

I would have been tempted to give it 5 stars but the shower let it down. It wouldn't stop me from staying there again and the view from No. 25 made up for the poor shower. Perhaps they will improve on this before my next visit?!

Room Tip: View from No. 25 was lovely and I assume it will be similar from all north-facing rooms on the top f...

Very good value. Great location for West End of Glasgow - very near Byres Road and Botanics. Large very clean rooms, no frills but comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was nothing special but offered reasonable choice - although no bacon.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking Great Western Road have large bay windows - great for people watching but not for...

We spent a very comfortable night in this hotel after we first flew in to Scotland. Heritage is charming and very inexpensive, with a great location. We walked to the Garden and around that corner of the city, found some sweet little secondhand shops, and even a gay (or possibly just gay friendly?) pub/coffee shop on the corner below the hotel. In the morning we walked to the bus station as well (approximately 30 minutes). Definitely recommend.
