First time for this Hotel.
Very acceptable budget hotel. I found the staff friendly and helpful. Its in a good state of repair fpr a budget hotel.
Location is not bad. I was attending a musical event at Oran Mor for which it was ideal; a five minute walk. Its close to Hillhead tube station which will quickly take you into the centre. If you enjoy walking then its a perfectly do-able walk through the leafy and historical west end of Glasgow into the City centre.
It was slightly difficult to locate as the hotel is stepped back above Great Western Road; you cant easily see it from the pavement on the hotel side. Approach from the other side and you will see it no problem.
Accommodation was fine although the shower was extremely poor, possibly as Room 14 was on the top floor it had no pressure, but no excuses for lukewarm water? I'm not sure of the ventilation in this room as I woke with a very bad nauseous headache and a strong smell of the 'full breakfast'; this is three floors up.
The Breakfast was very poor on the morning I was there, despite the 'in room' preview smells.
I'd be happy to stay here again, but I'd like two pillows please.

Room Tip: If you are not up to climbing stairs ask for a room on the lower floors.

Lovely building in a very good location, very easy to get to from Hillhead subway station, though a point worth noting is that access to the hotel is up a ramp to the area above some shops (might be worth a look on streetview before you go). It's only a few minutes walk from the university campus, our eventual location, so I would definitely recommend it if that's where you're going. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when we went out for a walk in the evening and they assured us they would let us back in, the university was that way etc. The whole place was lovely and warm, which was lovely after a rather dreek day out in Glasgow. The room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed, with a good bathroom and decent strength and warmth of shower. Wi-Fi was free and no hassle to connect to, the password was given to us with our room key. Breakfast included a great variety of cooked options and you could choose whatever you liked, everything I had was very tasty.

Pretty much well summed up by Amanda 1998 really. Couldn't agree more. Parking poor and difficult to get to. Only room for 3 cars at a squeeze then you have to play cat and mouse with traffic wardens if that's full. Good location into town however. Also had no hot water for showers and was 'encouraged' to try the sink...after giving the receptionist a rather confused look she got a plumber in and in fairness it was sorted quickly. Mixed feelings but overall met our requirements.

To be perfectly honest we had a horrible day before arriving at the heritage hotel which may have coloured our first impression. When we arrived we were greeted by staff who was very cold and abrupt. The directions to the hotel were complicated and resulted in us getting lost in a strange city in a foreign country. The car park or parking lot is a small alley behind the hotel which is dark and appears unsafe. The premises within the hotel were clean and tidy however there was garbage strewn outside the hotel which presented a very disagreeable sight. The room was well organized and spotless but the bathroom required renovation as the tiles have barely any grout and the shower had no hot water. We bathed in the sink. The breakfast staff were delightful but the food was simply all right. On a future visit we probably will choose to stay at a different location.

This hotel's location can't be beat. It's within close proximity of convenience stores, small cafes, Byres road (shopping and restaurant hub).

When we checked in, the staff kindly helped us with our bags, which was a great relief. However I notice that we were lucky because there were two nice gentlemen on duty. There are days when an older man and a young lady man the reception. So if you have heavy bags , you will need to consider if this is the best accomodation for you.

Not all rooms are on the ground floor, some are on the second and third (!)

We stayed in room 19. There was no wifi and this was a great disappointment. It was promised in the hotel literature.

Another thing to note is to ask your taxi driver to go to Cecil street rather than Great Western Road when you first arrive. This is because there are about 10steps from Great Western Road to the level that the hotel is located. Cecil Street is a side road and it is easy to wheel bags to the hotel which only has a few steps at the entrance.

Toilet is spacious but the water pressure at shower is low. It is after all a 3-star guest house, and rates are thus fair for what you get.

Room was very clean, functional, only 3 coat hangers though. Good location, near the subway, Glasgow Tours bus stop etc, some good bars/restaurants near by although later in the evening they mainly cater for the student clowd. The cistern in our room took forever to refill. Breakfast was OK as long as you didn't have something call turkey rashers - what are they!? Would have preferred Lorne sausages as we were in Scotland, however for the cost per night no real complaints - good value.

Not much in the way of parking, maybe space for 5 small cars at the rear of the hotel. Stairs very steep, so not suitable for elderly or infirm.

Room Tip: Only saw my room, so couldn't comment
