“Very disappointing, we will not be staying there again”
Reviewed 17 December 2009

We were looking forward to our stay in this hotel after reading all the previous reviews but seriously beg to differ with the opinions expressed. Our double room was tiny with a shower room that was more of a broom closet and with no water pressure. All of this would have been fine given the price we paid and good location but what was shocking was that no one cleaned any of the three rooms that we occupied for the two days we were there, even our tea bags etc were not replaced. I understand this was because the cleaners do not clean the rooms after midday and we were in the rooms so they did not clean it. But surely they could have knocked or asked us if we wanted our room cleaned? Any clean towels for the next day were dumped onto the floor outside the room which meant we had to fresh ones again.
The most shocking thing occurred at breakfast the next morning when we were promised a full english breakfast. Be warned the sausages are not pork but beef and to make matters worse no one warned us. We do not eat beef and thus we were naturally upset when this was brought to our attention in the visitor's book when some other guest had complained about this. The rashers are not bacon/pork but turkey so once again. To me the final straw was when we complained about this we were told that the owner does not care, he has been told several times by guests in the past but he has done nothing about it. Clearly the owner does not want my business and I feel it is my duty to let you know that this place is to be avoided for the reasons above when your guests opinions count for nothing then surely you are in the wrong business.

Stayed in this hotel 3 times now, the hotel is excellent value for money.. and the rooms are spottlessly clean. The service we receive at this hotel is of 5 star quality and we have gotten to know the staff during our 3 trips. They are always friendly and will have a chat with you. Overall an excellent hotel and we will definetely be returning next year. Thanks to the heritage

Stayed here twice, once in May and once in August. There was a reason for my return; the hotel's rooms are simple, chic and clean, the buffet breakfast is excellent (fresh fruit!) and you simply couldn't fault the price (£27pppn). I had looked at a couple of B&B's before, which were mainly seedy; I have no doubts that the Heritage Hotel was the right choice.

The receptionists may have been not overly friendly but was down to the point, which is the most important thing. We got checked in quickly. During our second stay we had a minor request which was resolved instantly by the night porter, an excellent, hard-working yet cheery guy.

The bedroom was gorgeous; the design and quality of the decor, including the appliances (LCD TV!) reminded me more of a four star hotel than anything else. In terms of cleanliness you couldn't fault neither the room nor the bathroom. The latter was rather small, which was okay for me since I don't need much space. Anyway, at the price of £54 it had already exceeded my expectations.

Breakfast was good: adequate selection of fresh fruit, cooked breakfast absolutely edible. The service was not friendly, but very swift.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to almost anyone traveling to Glasgow on a budget. Granted, if it is your first visit to the city you might want to be closer to the town center; however, the subway can bring to there in about 15 minutes including the walk to the station, and apart from that the West End along Great Western Road and Byres road features some of the best nightlife I have seen in Europe. The hotel is quiet, clean, safe, cheap and chic - what more could one possibly want?

Have been to Glasgow many times over the past 25 years; used to stay with family, but they recently relocated to Europe. Wanted to stay in this part of town as it's close to Kelvin Grove, Botanical Garden and Byres Rd, plus there are a couple of tube stations close by for travel to the city centre.

Stayed for 5 nights, though getting a booking for the Saturday was a lucky break due to a cancellation. Our room was very large, on the 2nd floor looking out over Gt Western Rd. The whole place is in the process of being renovated so everything was pretty clean and new. The wi-fi worked fine, the room was very light and airy, and apart from a bit of traffic noise, was relatively quiet. The parking at the back is limited to 3 very tight car spaces, but OK if you get one. The continental breakfast was fine - for a good cooked one, probably best to try one of the many places on Gt Western or Byres Rds.

Overall, very good value at GBP60 per night.

we toured scotland on a motorbike this week and this was the end of our trip so we treated ourselves to two nights at a hotel. we knew roughly where it was from the gps, but finding it was slightly harder. the hotel is slightly off the main road, about 2 miles from glasgow city centre, in a residential area. its front door is on the roofs of the shops on the great western road. the hotel is an old victorian style 4 storey house, but all the rooms are styled simply and modern with large lcd tv's in all the rooms. room was clean, large, and plenty of storage space for all our gear, and they were kind enough to let us park under the front window, so no young scamps could play about on the bike. there is a few parking bays to the rear, were cctv seems tocover, and the desk is manned 24 hours a day. breakfast was usual "scottish"/english/welsh/ulster fried affair, but they did do a nice poached or scambled egg if you prefer. also large selection of fruit and cereals for the healthy types. all in all a very nice wee place, very friendly family run business and excellent value for money. will be back

lovely hotel, very clean and really comfortable beds :D located in a busy area with plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants. although it says that there is parking, you will definately have to park on the main street. would definately recommend for a city break in Glasgow.

This hotel is excellent value in a great location! My room was clean and a good size. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a good breakfast. What more do you need?
My room had obviously just been decorated and I noticed another room being painted while I was there. After looking on-line for a good deal I paid £40 for a twin room on a Saturday night and that couldn't be beaten by any other hotels in the area. I would definitely recommend it and plan to stay again. There is limited parking but this would not put me off.
