“Superb”
Reviewed 31 July 2012 via mobile

My new wife and I got married at the Sherbrooke Castle on the 29th July. What a fantastic experience. The big day was absolutely perfect and we couldn't have asked anymore from the Sherbrooke. The whole day went without a hitch and was unbelievably smooth. Everything went according to plan and it was clear the Sherbrooke are experts in their field. The food was absolutely superb and every course was delicious. Everything was hot and everything was fresh. It was the best food that I have ever had at a mass catered event. Our guests all seemed to agree and the compliments we have received have been overwhelming. My sincere thanks go to all the staff for making our special day everything we wanted it to be. A special mention has to go to William, our wedding co-ordinator. What a star. Nothing was too much trouble for my wife and he was unflappable throughout. William was always at hand to help us through the day and throughout the build up. A credit to the hotel. Our one bit of constructive critiscm is that the hotel's website really doesn't do the venue the justice it deserves. Thanks again to all involved.

Helped to organise and then attended a fairly rapidly organised function in the Sherbrooke Castle.
Very helpful and flexible staff from the reception desk through to the reception and bar staff. All the arrangements and the evening itself went very smoothly.
Clean well presented function suite, very large conservatory for pre and post meal drinks and conversation.
Thought food was absolutely delicious - very high standard

Lovely peaceful setting. Hotel has many fine architectural features. Single room had enormous bed which was fantastic as I hate single beds in hotel rooms. Lovely bathroom with shower but no bath. Room was very warm and asked girl at reception if she knew how I could open window further but she said she did not know and offered no more assistance. Ate in bar and had an excellent meal. Breakfast was really excellent and freshly cooked. Staff at breakfast a bit off with guests who sat at tables set for dinner not breakfast. Personally I did not notice much difference. Why not wait until after breakfast to set tables for next meal? Overall a good experience for solo female traveller and will stay there again.

We stayed there for 3 nights and thorouly enjoyed our stay.the staff were excellent and could not do enough for you.we had choosen this hotel because it takes dogs and we had our elderly, handicapped neighbour with us.
We were allocated rooms in the annexe which we thought would be disappointing when we saw them but the rooms turned out to be very nicely decorated and furnished, the only draw back was that there were wedding receptions taking place and the noise from the guests in the adjacent car park kept us awake. To be honest it was to be expected there would be such noise when such events are taking place.
We ate both evenings at the hotel with some other invited guests and we all enjoyed our meal but the only thing I would recommend that the hotel supplies longer tea spoons so that you do not burn your fingers when stirring your latte coffee, but this is a minor thing.
On a more serious note for rooms that are classed for handicapped should have invalidity supports on the walls adjacent to the toilet and handles in the showers.
On the whole we had a very enjoyable stay and I believe the rooms in the hotel are lovely,so I would definitely recommend this hotel and we would definitely use it again

Room Tip: Ask for room one as I believe it has a four poster bed.

A good quality hotel with friendly staff. Rooms a good sized and well furnished. We stayed several nights while there were 2 weddings. They put us in the front rooms which kept most noise out. The only noise issue was from the room above - evevery foot step was heard. If you're in zhlasgow , why not stay in a castle.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet

my husband and I stayed here recently and we were really impressed by the hotel, our room was fabulous, huge and with a sitting area and a lovely bathroom. Very comfortable settee in the room as well, so often the seating area is an uncomfortable chair and tiny settee, not here!

We didn't actually eat in the restaurant this time round but we have eaten here before when staying with friends locally and it was excellent so I'm assuming that it hasn't deteriorated in the past 18months or so as we did have breakfast this time and it was very good. We were in the little side room which is very cosy for breakfast,

I stayed here with my (extended) family for my sister's wedding in June 2012. As we were a little slow in booking, the only large rooms available to fit 2 adults a 3 little ones were in the stables annexe. Any worries that the standard of the rooms would not match those in the main hotel were immediately dispelled on arrival. The large family room had been set up to welcome us. It was decorated to a very high standard and both quiet and comfortable at night. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful notably the chatty and pleasant night-porter. On the day of the wedding they made every effort to ensure all went to plan. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Food was excellent both for the wedding and the ample breakfast. I would have no qualms in highly recommending this hotel as a bolt- hole just outside the Glasgow city centre. Only request for the management would be to please fix the weather for the next time!!
