We have had a number of family occasions at the hotel over the last 51 years but this was our first time to stay there. Hotel staff were all welcoming, friendly, efficient and keen to assist as required. We had a Junior Suite (Room 3) for 2 nights. The large room was well appointed with lovely views over the hotel gardens and the city and there was a cosy sitting area in the turret. Tea tray, chocolate biscuits and coffee machine and water provided The very large en-suite with large bath and shower was new and well appointed.
We booked for Dinner, B&B and were not disappointed. A good choice of items for dinner; all were very well prepared and presented, with excellent service, An excellent buffet breakfast with many choices was provided with hot dishes to order as required.
We had a warm welcome from the staff at the nearby Glasgow Climbing centre; previously Ibrox Parish Church in which we had been married 50 years previously.
Dumbreck Railway station is just a few minutes walk away and next stop is Glasgow Central so travel is easy. Trains run every 30 mins. There is parking within the hotel grounds. We visited Riverside Transport Museum, the tall ship Glenlee, Kelvingrove Art Galleries and the Hunterian Museum on the second day. All excellent. Check times if travelling by bus to the Riverside Museum as they seem to be only hourly.
On the 3rd day we delighted in our visit to House for an Art Lover in the near by Bellahouston Park. This has a very good restaurant. We then visited the newly reopened Holmwood House in Cathcart (Fresh veg and a donation box in the kitchen garden) before returning to the Sherbrooke for a very good lunch.
There were functions on each of the 3 days we were there; we were not disturbed by these at all. This is an excellent family run hotel to which we will certainly return.
