“Brilliant if you are interested in piping”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

My husband, father and I stayed here as my father is a keen piper and I wanted him to be close to the Piping Centre as he is not very mobile. This was the perfect place! There is a small number of rooms available above the cosy restaurant/cafe/bar that is located to the right of the centre. The rooms are small and designed for 2 people but we squeezed 3 people in. For 75 pounds/night including continental breakfast, it was not the best value in comparison to a b&b we had stayed in previously on our trip; however, in saying that, it was in a great location next to the Piping Centre and it was only a short walk to the main shopping area.

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay near the centre of Glasgow and also wants to stay somewhere with a unique twist.

Some considerations:
*Main entry to the rooms is through the restaurant/cafe/bar and up the stairs (no lift). After hours, entry is to the right of the building.
*Reception is at the restaurant/cafe/barcounter.
*No reception staff onsite once the restaurant/cafe/bar is closed.
*Free wifi.
*Staff were very friendly and helpful.
*There are some great books available to read in the restaurant.
*The Piping Museum isn't open on Sundays.
*I couldn't find an online booking option and had to make the reservation by phone.

I was invited to be a guest at a close friends daughters wedding and was delighted at the experience in this small, intimate, well-run hotel. As a vegetarian, I am often disappointed at hotel food, however, their breakfast buffet surprised me with simple and healthy food - dried fruit & nuts, organic muesli, fresh fruit and even peanut butter & marmite -just great!
The bedrooms were a bit dated and could do with some money spending on them, however, can't complain at the price, as everything was clean and well-looked after.
The wedding ceremony was beautifully orchestrated, drinks to follow in the Museum of Piping - which was a lovely Scottish collection of artifacts. If I returned to Glasgow, I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Room 5, small and cosy.

We held a party at the centre on 14 May and from first to last it was an excellent experience. As a venue for a function it was perfect and for those staying in the hotel part the rooms are very good. They are not huge but are very nice, clean, and with everything you would want. The centre is extremely well run and we were very impressed with the efficiency and friendliness of all the staff. They just could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended as a venue for a function or simply as a B&B in a very convenient location.

We spent 2 wonderful days in Glasgow and we are glad that we stayed in The Pipers' Tryst. It`s a fabulous hotel. If someone will ask us for a hotel in Glasgow we`ll definitely recommend The Pipers` Tryst! The hotel is very central and quiet anyway.
Our room was in the second floor. It was clean and the atmosphere was relaxing. The included breakfast was okay. For the greater hunger we could choose delicious ham and eggs from the breakfast menu.
The service was extremely friendly and attentive. Everything was just right and we felt very well.
We thank the staff for our wonderful stay.

We stayed here after reading positive reviews on Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet. My husband loves bagpipe and band music - so this was part of the hotel's attraction. Our room was small but very clean. There was no air conditioning which could be a problem in summer. We managed to open a window but this was a little difficult. The breakfast was OK with a reasonable continental selection and good cooked selection available. The hotel was close to the city centre with plenty of transport options available. It isn't luxurious but it is overwhelmingly friendly and personable. The National Museum of Bagpiping in Scotland was next door. The staff were helpful and kind.

This hotel is attached to a bagpipe museum and is definitely worth a visit! Its great value for money and you get so much more than if you stayed in a similarly priced chain hotel. The rooms are fine, and the breakfast was great, with good choice of food and authentic Scottish stuff. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, and the guy who served us was really friendly and welcoming. The rooms are up a winding staircase which could be difficult for elderly guests or those with mobility problems - dont think there was a lift. But it all adds to its charm, and the central location also is a bonus. We parked on the street on a parking meter, but this wasnt a problem.

Have been to this hotel many times . The reason I keep returning is because it is great value for money if on a budget . However even when travelling on expenses like to stay here because the food is excellent and in particular the breakfast is superb .
The staff are very friendly without being intrusive . Overall would highly recommend .
