“great staff”
Reviewed 1 June 2012

I stayed here for 1 night as part of a 5pm deal. The room was homely, a bit chipped in places but perfectly clean and comfortable. There was a good view of town from the window Room 6 and it is well located to access the city centre or west end. We booked for dinner and were surprised how quiet the restaurant was when the food was just so well presented and tasty. I will definitely return to eat in the restaurant and would stay here again too. The place had a nice and relaxed atmosphere with exceptionally helpful staff. If you are looking for fashionable/smart hotel then this is not for you but if you prefer down to earth and relaxed then book. There is street parking payable 8am -6pm at a rate of 10p for 12mins. You can pay for 4 hours parking at a time. There are multi storey car parks across the road that are more expensive but accessible.

It sorts of started on the wrong foot. I was on the second floor and the wi-fi connexion didn't work up there (except from the staircase). I was not happy at all and shared my disappointment with the staff. Next morning, when I asked if a room would be available on the 1st floor, the girl already knew about my situation and confirmed I could move down in early afternoon. Since then, things kept on going well. Rooms are comfortable enough, room and bathroom are clean, service is excellent, it's well located and the food served at the restaurant downstairs is really good. They are proactive, offering to call a cab for my return and to bring my lunch up to my room. I would recommend it to anyone!

Thank you for writing this recent response about The Pipers’ Tryst Hotel. We are delighted that you found comfort after a small hiccup at the hotel. Being an old church we have very thick brick walls and the WIFI signal can go ‘in and out’ as you go higher into the building.

I am glad that the staff dealt with your room move – it’s unfortunate we could not move you on night one but we were fully booked. It is good to hear that they knew as soon as you arrived for breakfast and we swift with the move. We do have a policy to communicate between shifts and like to ensure that all guests are happy when staying with us.

To rectify the WIFI issue we have purchased a booster and plan to install in the roof to ensure the signal is available all over the premises.

Thank you for your kind comments and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

We stayed for 3 days in April. The room was very small, but clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was good....right on the route of the tour bus. Great food. Would stay here again. Only downside was having to pay for parking.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was super....can't remember when, or if, I was ever offered peanut butter at breakfast but I love it!! Room was small but adequate for a city stay as we tend not to spend a lot of time there anyway. This hotel is perfect for position in Glasgow. A walk away from the city centre and a good walk from the west end, if you like walking. Just across from the Theatre Royal. Room showing its age now, wee bit shabby with wear and tear but would not prevent me from a return visit. Our room overlooked the main road so was a bit noisy. For the money, this hotel was really good.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the first floor as our room was on the second floor and there was a noise during the...

Thank you for taking time to comment about your recent stay. It is good to hear that you found the hotel handy and convenient for the city centre. We may be at the top of town, but directly in the centre of Glasgow’s Theatreland and at the start of the ‘Style Mile’ Glasgow’s shopping district.

We love peanut butter and like to ensure there is a large mix of condiments for breakfast to ensure you have all the home comforts required when away from home! We offer not just fruity Scottish jams but lemon curd, marmalade, crunchy and smooth peanut butter and love it or hate it...even marmite!

We hope to welcome you back soon.

We had our civil partnership here and it was the most fantastic day. All the staff were great from start to finish and I could not fault anything. The food was amazing both the meal and the canapés, the service was great and the drink was reasonably priced.

We had booked all the rooms in the hotel and everyone was very satisfied with them. They were very clean and comfortable all with good quality en-suite bathrooms, and if you get a room to the front of the hotel you get fab view of the town.

Everyone was delighted with the breakfast and it had something on the menu to cure everyone’s hangover.

I would definitely recommend this as a venue for any kind of celebration large or small.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but if you want a view of the city then ask for one at the front.

My wife and I stayed here twice during our 3 week trek around Scotland. It's located at the top of a main road that is 2 blocks from a main shopping district. Immediately nearby are several pubs, restaurants, cafe's, and car parks. There is a train station and bus depot a few blocks away.

The staff were some of the friendliest folks we met while touring around. They were very accommodating at the hotel, and helpful with directions to popular sights and shopping in the city.

I was pleasantly surprised at how impressive the meals were presented. Everything was very flavorful...a treat for the eyes and palate!

The room was exactly what we needed, a clean and quiet place to rest for the evening. Our room and shower was clean (I saw no mold/mildew as in some other hotels we stayed at in our 3 week tour around the country). The TV was small, but we weren't in Scotland to watch TV so it didn't bother us.

The bed was 2 twins set together and we did occasionally slip into the gap between them but it just made is chuckle at each other. A band around the 2 beds to hold them together could be a good upgrade item to consider.

If you are looking for an affordable centrally located hotel with access to shopping and restaurants, quiet spot to rest comfortably, a hearty traditional Scottish breakfast, great food and coffee then this is definitely worth it!

Room Tip: I don't know if the room configurations remain a constant, but 7 & 8 had 2 twins together fo...

We had friends up visiting from Yorkshire, Scottish and one a piper so thought we would stay there as a sort of gimmick, piping etc etc. Well we thoroughly enjoyed it, rooms spotless, great breakfast and staff so friendly. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed it, they also visited the museum and made some purchases at the shop. Would definitely go back
