“wedding ruined”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

The Pipers Tryst ruined my wedding. They completely messed up my table plan which spoiled the meal. They were unapologetic and very unhelpful on the day. The rooms were average and they did absolutely nothing to make our room special for our wedding night. STAY AWAY!

Room Tip: Book somewhere else.

Thank you for taking time to write this review almost 14 months after your wedding. We are rather stunned and upset by your comments as at the time (June 2013) you left us with the impression that you had a lovely wedding day.

In regards to your seating plan, we clarified back then, that it is normal practise for guests seated at tables 1,2,3 to be adjacent to the top table and for guests at tables 8,9,10 to be furthest away. This is commonly how most couples would lay out their table plan. Thinking back to your wedding, you submitted a diagram with no numbers and a list of names and therefore we set the room according to normal practise. Again, looking back, if you had gone over this in detail we would have acknowledged your request for a different set up.

On your wedding day we looked after the guests who were out of place by this inaccuracy with our highest apologies, exceptional service and complimentary drinks. I have faith that you were also splendidly looked after on your special day by our wedding planners and management both pre and post event. From our records we also see that the director of the company wrote to your parents a personal apology to ensure your family that we were extremely apologetic for this error. What more could we do?

May I draw to your attention that you fail to mention the beautiful food, attentive first class service and years of meticulous planning we spent with you and your family? We take our jobs very seriously and looking after bride and grooms is an honour and one of the best jobs in the world, therefore we are left upset and saddened by your senseless review.

Please read below the journals of the many many happy guests that come through our doors daily, love their experience and also appreciate staying in our 8-bedroom hotel. We are sorry that we did not enhance your room on your wedding night, we did however ensure you were in our best and largest bedroom (Rm 6). It is not customary practise for us to scatter rose petals or embellish bedrooms – maybe we need to add this to our wedding offerings?

Your comments to STAY AWAY, I am sure will not hold back the wonderful and grateful bride and grooms we host weddings for annually. We wish you happiness in your married life and are very sorry for any displeasure we caused.

We stayed here because of attending a party being hosted at the Piping Centre, of which the hotel is a part. (No, we did not hear bagpipe rehearsal.) There are only 8 rooms. They are small but beautifully decorated with tartan prints, and the bed was the most comfortable we had on our trip. The breakfast that is included is continental, but there are cooked options for an additional charge. You enter through the restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Since we had an early flight, they prepared us a breakfast tray which was waiting outside our room when we got up. Hotel was close to bus service and convenient to downtown.

Room Tip: We asked for a queen or king, and it appears they put 2 twins together - very comfortable beds!

We recently had our first stay in the Hotel which was a treat from our daughter who has stayed on various occasions and highly recommended it. We were not disappointed and found the location, food, bedrooms and the staff all excellent. We also would highly recommend Pyper's Tryst and it will certainly be our number one choice whenever we visit Glasgow.

Room Tip: Was on second floor and was very pleased with our room. However stairs could be a problem for some...

We stayed here in June 2013. The rooms, while not large, were very comfortable. The location was great, within walking distance to all downtown Glasgow attractions and shopping. I really loved the food at the restaurant downstairs and all the servers were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.
