My husband and I chose this hotel as it was near the venue where I had an early start for volunteer training for the Commonwealth Games. There was plenty of on street parking in the quiet road outside and the entrance was attractive and the welcome warm. We had taken a family room (Room 7) as that was all that was left and it was huge with four single beds for the two of us. Plenty of space for us to spread around but four people would find it sufficient just. The en suite with walk in shower was small but adequate. The decor was fresh and spotlessly clean. The room was on the first floor so, although the shower was walk in there were stairs to the room if accessibility was important.
Although the hotel is near a busy road, the interior was quiet. Breakfast was ample and well cooked with a good choice of hot dishes. The lady who showed us our room was very knowledgable about local eating places, all within a short walk away, and gave us a map with a range of restaurants marked for us. Unfortunately our first two choices, displaying very nice menus, were fully booked but there were several others in the vicinity and we settled for an inexpensive "pub grub" meal which satisfied our hunger without breaking the bank.
Our room looked out over a small pleasant garden at the back of the hotel but we noticed the room next door (room 6) had a view out the front and a rather nice four poster bed. I think I'll try that room next time as there undoubtedly will be a next time.
I have given the hotel an excellent rating as it was clean, comfortable and ideally situated for my purpose with no hassle about parking outside. The staff were friendly and accomodated my very early breakfast by giving me a tray the evening before. We stayed for three nights and met others who regularly use this hotel to visit grown up children working or studying in Glasgow. Looks like it is a place for "those in the know".
