Had booked a four bedroom private dorm here when touring with friends. Decent, clean rooms. location is very good, just a 15 min walk from the city center and the main bus stand. No wi-fi available in the room though. Wi-fi is only available in the dining area near the reception.

I have stayed at the Mclay guest house now on a few occassions and found it to be excellant value for money.. very comfortable with a very friendly and welcoming staff... The rooms are well presented and very clean...The staff will go out of their way to help you no matter the problem...

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and well presented... and lend themselves to a comfortable nights sleep

Friendly welcome on arrival a decent clean room although up many stairs and a good breakfast made or stay good minus points public areas a bit tired and the hole in the front garden is a bit off putting but i would stay here again the hotel is good for local attractions and only 10 minutes walk from central station.

Stayed overnight In February with my girlfriend and exceeded all of our expectations based upon the price. Very close to the busy sauchiehall street which had many bars and restaurants to choose from. Comfy bed and a quiet night's sleep + polite staff = a great stay!

The room was clean and had all I needed for a good price. Wouldn't want to stay very long. Breakfast was great and staff friendly.if you do find fault they don't exactly go out of their way to sort it try to fob you off first, but if you state your point hopefully it gets sorted. Not exactly great if you have disabilities as the floors are very uneven and some hallways narrow and although they have a lift it is only for one part of the building. Also a lot of noise from the huge key and metal keyfob especially when trying to sleep.

Room Tip: They are digging up drains at the front of the building and it is causing a smell in rooms 18 &...

McLays was a little further from the bus station than I had thought, but only about a 10 minute walk. Perhaps the slight hill made it seem longer. Apart from that, the guest house was good. The rooms were small, but adequate and surprisingly quiet. Having a basin in the room was good.
However, the most appealing part of my stay were the friendly staff, especially at breakfast, and the breakfast itself. This was very generous and a variety of items were available. Lots of coffee or tea, several cereals, yoghurts and these were all unlimited, as far as I could see.
The building was a little bit run-down, but overall and for the price, it was definitely good value for money. I would recommend it to travelers who need to watch their budget a bit.

Room Tip: Not too sure about this one, but I guess a room on the lower floors might mean less walking, althoug...
