Stayed here for two days while visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh. The room was very very nice, and had an excellent view of the neighbouring park/university! Big picture windows, and lots of space. Bed was quite comfy, street is a bit noisy, but that is to be expected in such a lively neighbourhood. Staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast (included with the room) was delicious. The location is perfect, with a 10 minute walk to the subway, 15 minute walk to downtown, and a lot of the points of interest are in the neighbourhood. WiFi was great as well. I would strongly recommend the Argyll and definitely stay here again. Great value at 45GBP per night including breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room either higher up or away from the street if you are easily bothered by noise, for the...

Looked for a budget hotel in Glasgow with a friend and settled on this one. Around 15 minutes walk from the bus station and easy to find. We were situated in the half of the hotel on the other side from the reception.

Our twin room was nice and clean with pleasant tartan decoration. There was also a second bedroom with a bunk bed which was useful if you were taking children. The beds were relatively comfy.

Three things majorly let the hotel down:

- Although when we booked it was said breakfast was included, we found out on arrival we would have to pay extra. Disappointing.
- The plumbing above our room was clearly ancient and we were woken around 5am by very loud vibrating from the pipework. If it hadn't been for the large amount of alcohol consumed we would have slept even less.
- The poor plumbing had already struck earlier when my friend was about to shower when the water supply was cut off. We had to wait a full hour for this to get switched on and therefore ended up leaving later than planned as a result.

Overall rating of 2 / 5 due to the problems mentioned above.

Pro's: Clean and comfortable budget accommodation.
Con's: Breakfast wasn't included (0.5 rating stars dropped as a result), faulty plumbing affected us (1.5 rating stars dropped as a result).

Room Tip: The building across the road from the reception has plumbing issues, also check breakfast is include...

I stayed at 5 hotels in a week in Scotland and the Argyll was up at the top for value with the very best breakfast and the friendliest staff. It was also well placed, fairly comfortable and provided all the basics including abundant hot water and free wifi.

Easy to get to SECC from hotel, taxi fare less than £5.00. Pubs around the corner good.
Our room in guest house accross the road, basic but clean and reasonably quite from the traffic. Good choice of breakfast.

Will not hesitate to use again if going to SECC.

Only a 10 min walk to the city or the SECC (Ok, 10 min could be very long during heavy rain and strong wind). Just a 2 min walk to some cosy pubs at the next corner. Our room was in the guest house across the road. It was tidy and clean and very quiet (good windows). I have not heard anything from the traffic in the night. The staff was very kind and helpful. Whenever I´ll be back in Glasgow, I´ll stay at the Argyll Guest House.
