This hotel had very little going for it apart from its central location - upon arrival we were greeted by a rather rude receptionist telling us we were too early with no offer to store bags etc. When asked these were placed in the disabled toilet removing all access to this facility. The lift was horrendously rickety and the stairwells painted a shcoking red resembing a 19th century brothel. The room we were allocated was small and garishly painted, the bed had seen plenty of use, and furniture was generally shabby. The view from the room was a rather stunning red brick wall and the sound effects of a noisy fan outside coupled with hearing everything the people in the next room were doing were far from entertaining.

The tea making facilities would have been a nice touch had it not been for the UHT milk to be 2 months past its use by date....

The breakfast was a rather meagre offering....the worst aspects including being provided with sour milk for the tea and no plates made available for the toast.

Having booked the hotel to attend a concert we asked the staff for directions to the stadium - having been advised that the whole hotel was full of people attending the same event, they were unable to give any guidance whatsoever! It seems they did not have access to the internet or a map.........

I would not recommend this hotel for anyone at the price of £85 per night. We did not expect 5* luxury but think that calling this a hotel was a stretch too far.......more like a student flat with a cleaner.

This hotel has the potential to be great with some upgrading.
First impressions, excellent location, a short 5 minute walk from city centre and train stations. First class staff, lovely little bar downstairs and 24 hour reception.
The rooms unfortunately let it down, they are dark, dingy and need upgrading. However we found ours to be clean and as we were only there one night it was fine for what we needed. Wouldn't book this hotel for any special occasion but for a night in the city it's fine.
Little overpriced for the standard of rooms but the friendly staff and location did make up for this.

I read so many mixed reviews about this hotel, I was a but worried. It was either going to be fantastic or horrific. My own opinion is a bit of both.

We paid over the odds for our room- £85 for the night- because we were let down by another hotel and booked late. The room was certainly not worth £85.

We will start with the positives: Customer service is brilliant. Excellent staff. The location is perfectly central. It is in a really good, safe part of the city. Handy for rail and bus travel.

Now the negatives: The decor and furnishings are very tired. The rooms are tiny. Beds are practically on the floor- may be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. The corridors are dark, garish and need new carpets. The noise from the bar downstairs and music from a nearby club go on until 3am. You can hear your neighbour having a pee (and anything else they might be doing). And presumably they can hear you. The breakfast is basic- cereal, toast, yoghurt etc.

We were staying for a gig so didn't mind so much. It wasn't a romantic night out for us. If it had been, I would have been utterly disappointed. As it was, I was just generally disappointed.

I might stay here again- only if I was paying half the price and if I was in Glasgow for drinks and a party.

Booked in on the recommendation of Lonely Planet. Room below par, breakfast below par and room at rear was very noisy. Location good and may suit younger traveller as the bar was very active. For others suggest you look elsewhere.

We have just spent a night at the Brunswick Hotel. It suited us as we were going to a wedding and just needed somewhere to sleep in the city centre. The room was small and compact but very clean and we were able to get an early check in. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The bar was OK although we didn't have time to eat in it. We would stay in the hotel again as it was value for money and is in a central location.
