“Great for nightovers”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Two of us stayed here for a day/night out in Glasgow. Receptionist was helpful and friendly. We dropped our bag off at 10.30am to start shopping. Location was fantastic. The room was clean, the shower was great and no horrible black mould in the bath... important to me. Hairdryer, Iron, Tea and coffee in the room. For £65 for two incl. continental breakfast we could not complain.

Glasgow was full due to Gary Barlow, who is a singer apparently ..... So my usual bolt hole was full or way too expensive!!

There are some less than flattering photo's posted - happily my room suffered none of the afflictions digitally captured by others.
Check-in was quick and efficient. The room was clean. I had a restful night in a firm but comfy bed. And continental breakfast (included in the rate) was fine

This proved a pleasant distraction from the corporate big boys

Room Tip: There is no pool, got a bit too clicky ....

and have stayed in several hotels in Glagow and this one is my favorite. It offers a bit more style and flare than what I have found elsewhere, the desk staff is lovely and they even offer sturdy umbrellas to lend in the Glasgow rain. My room itself was clean and comfortable. The shower (with tub) was a bit narrow for my extra large frame but that was more than made up for with the high mounted showerhead and excellent water pressure, both rarities in my experience. The real great part of this hotel is the attached cafe/bar. They have a wonderdul menu of well prepared food all with fresh ingredients and to make it even better the staff and service is amazing! Friendly, helpful, skilled, and proffesional, the staff seems to enjoy the environment, which makes for a very pleasant visit. I highly recommend you stay and eat here!

Having had a lovely trip away from London with my boyfriend in Glasgow, we were both left wondering why the student staff are so rude in the restaurant when service is terrible. While I don't mind being treated with disdain form staff, my boyfriend found the contemptuous aggression from the bar staff on both nights of our stay quite wearying, especially while staying in accommodation that aims for bohemian shabby chic but misses so completely. As shabby and dismal as a youth hostel but more expensive and with a much superior attitude from staff. Quite handy for the gay village though.

Wish there was a zero rating...

Is it trading on reputation? or do people have much lower standard than in other major cities? Who knows? Won't be back.

This hotel is good value for the money. The rooms are small but a little bit grubby. The bed linen and towels were very clean and i slept well. Super central location. Staff were very friendly. good discount for using hotel restuarant. A free whisky on arrival.

Loved this hotel! Booked for an overnight stay as a place to sleep and get ready for a girls night out, couldn't have picked a better hotel as the location was perfect! For 3 girls sharing a room with a ton of bags cluttered all over the place we had plenty of room, the rooms aren't the biggest but for the price you're paying what do you expect? Bar and reception staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting places we might go and nothing was too much trouble for them. Loved the quirkiness of the red and blue walls in the hotel and as dark as they may have been to say you had trouble finding your way through them would be a bit of an exaggeration! The room was perfectly clean - all 3 of us having worked in hotel housekeeping at some point we would've made a comment if it hadn't been! The only 2 complaints i have is that the room got very warm and it didn't seem like the radiator was even on, i know it's still winter but a fan would've been beneficial as it was quite uncomfortable during the night, and also when i booked it was for 3 people but when we checked in we were told it was only booked for 2 and we had to pay an extra 10 pound for a third person, the money didn't bother me as it was still cheap but they shouldn't be selling it as a room for 3 if you need to pay extra if there is actually going to be 3 in the room. All in all we had a lovely stay and despite those 2 grievances we will deffo be returning for our next night out!
