“What a place!”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

The Mitchell Library is amongst the largest libraries in the World so it is well worth a visit if you are a bookie type person or if you just want to find information on something. The building itself is very impressive. The only problem is that it is hard to get an unobstructed view of it because of the motorway in front of it.

“Find my history.”

A well stocked archive on the history and development of Glasgow. Old photos and newspapers(on film) for viewing. Staff very willing and helpful. Make sure you allow plenty of time for research.

“2nd fiddle to Edinburgh - not likely.”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

The Mitchell library is housed in a lovely old building and a place of refuge when things get cold, windy and bleak outside (and that can happen in Glasgow). I was able to do some research on the Kings Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) ca 19th C and managed to get a years membership by signing on the dotted line during my visit. Nice collections and numerous rooms to explore too.
Glasgow also has some rather nice stone architecture and some trendy restaurants. The bus system seems to work rather well as does the railway. People are nice and friendly even if they hard to understand ha, ha.
