Had a great day out at the park on their open day. This allowed a visit to Pollok House for free. It was great and had attendants in Victorian clothes explaining the exhibits. The park is worth a visit itself and has beautiful Highland cows and a lovely walled garden where they grow flowers and all kinds of vegetables. The Burrell Collection is fabulous too although I believe it will be closing soon for renovation. However I can still recommend a visit as there is still plenty of things for everyone to see and do. It caters for children and adults and is a nice wee bit of the countryside in the heart of Glasgow's south side.

As a member of the national trust for Scotland entry was free. Nice 18th century property with Victorian extensions. Good collection of furnishings and paintings though not enough information available to glance at. However the guides were well informed and more than capable of filling in the blanks . Good couple of hours in the house with a nice cup of coffee in the tea room.

When my husband and I walked out of the Burrell Collection, we saw a sign for the Pollok House. We had not planned to visit it, but it seemed like a short walk and the weather was beautiful. We were so glad that we went to see it. Actually preferred it to the Burrell Collection. It is a charming home with beautiful plaster work and wonderful El Grecos. There are docents in every room who are happy to provide you with information about the rooms and their furnishings. And, the formal gardens are exceptional. This house is a real treat!

My wife and i used to walk around Pollock Park when we were courting in our teenage years and i still never tire of going to Pollock House. Things have changed a little since 1980 as you can now get amazing, reasonably priced food in the kitchen restaurant in the basement of Pollock House. If you do plan to have Sunday lunch i woul recommend that you book in advance as its very popular. The kitchen restauarant is stunning....and yes, the restaurant is actually in what used to be the kitchen of Pollock House.
