Stayed for two nights recently. As usual the Hotel offered good service, food, cheerful and helpful staff. The dinner and breakfasts were tasty. The room was big enough, and included a Mac computer/TV, fridge, safe, and tea and coffee making facilities. The shower room was spacious, with the usual toiletries supplied. The bed was really comfortable, and our sleep was only disturbed by the too soft pillows supplied. On enquiring at reception, they could not offer other more firmer pillows. Wi-Fi available in hotel. Shame about the lack of firmer pillows, as even Premier Inns, and Holiday Inns give you a choice of pillows, and given the vast difference in prices charged, this small addition would add to an otherwise perfect stay.

Room Tip: River facing rooms offer a better view.

Dear CowalArgyll

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry that the pillows in the room were not to your liking – we do normally have other options available. I have asked my housekeeping manager to increase the stock of firmer pillows as a result of your feedback.

Kind Regards,
Brian

Enjoyed a three night break here to attend a concert at the SECC. The room was very clean and so was the shower room. The shower room was in need of some upgrading as there was evidence of wear in the fittings. The room just manages to house the fittings and is very small. The bedroom had a super view of the Clyde. We enjoyed the breakfast and it was good to have late sittings until 11.00am at the weekend. Make sure you book well in advance as the full price is very high and I don't think the hotel warrants the cost. Also wondered what made this a 4 star hotel!

Room Tip: All rooms are the same but the ones facing the river have a nice view.

Used Hotel again as I was going to a concert at the Hydro, which is only a 2 minute walk from the Hotel... Checked in no problem at all, as before room was small but totally adequate for my needs, plus very clean and tidy....

This time I had also booked the evening meal, which was excellent and very good value....

Straight back to concert after concert and despite the crowds outside leaving the venue the room was still very quiet...

As in my previous visit the breakfast was excellent and fantastic venue..

Highly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those going to events at the Hydro or SECC..

So, previous reviews are correct. It is about 45 minute walk from George Square in the city centre and some of the streets are a bit hilly getting there. But the hotel is well kept and right on the Clyde. Straight across the road is the Rotunda which offers some great restaurant options.

One advantage of being on the fringe of town is you have less late night noise. What makes this "very good" rather than "good" is the superb front counter staff and a very good breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for 4-5th floor, River facing so you can keep your window open and temperature is great for slee...

Dear swiggerAustralia

Thank you for your review and highlighting the friendly reception team and quality of breakfast.

Our location is ideal for attending events at the SECC or visiting the Science Centre and only a 1.2 mile walk to Glasgow Central Train Station, mostly along the riverside.

We stayed two nights at Hilton garden inn, which we booked through mystery breaks not knowing where it was. Unfortunately the information we were given said city centre, which this was not, but it was never more than a 5 pound taxi to get anywhere. It was a nice hotel, interestingly enough we had a iMac in our room rather than a TV which we found strange, but clean and good service.

Dear Sarah A

Thank you for your review.

Our location is ideal for guests wishing to explore Glasgow, located on the riverside beside the SECC and Hydro arena and in between the central shopping area and the West-end – as you have highlighted the taxi fare to get around is very reasonable.

Kind Regards,
Brian
