Excellent lunch in excellent location

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Jul 2019
During a cycling trip, we had two hours between trains so we opted for lunch at the Hilton Garden Inn. Warm welcome and top class food outside next to the Clyde. A very calm experience away from the traffic. Easy access for bikes

Found this hotel very clean and staff were very friendly.
My only issue was the extra charge for parking at the hotel. Not massively expensive but never been charged for paring before at a hotel before.

We stayed here on a recent visit to Glasgow. Our room was comfortable enough but the hotel had a tired feel to it. This is evident on arrival where the car park is needing some attention with weeds on display and many spaces blocked off for no apparent reason. I had never used a garden inn before and it certainly appears to be a lower class than a standard Hilton. The breakfast room was full in the morning and people had to wait for tables, without any assistance from staff. The table we had was extremely low and very close to other people which didn’t help as the man at the table next to us had an extremely loud voice and punctuated every sentence with an expletive beginning with F. We couldn’t even move table as there was none available. The breakfast itself was poor quality from a Hilton viewpoint - no fruit, tables weren’t cleared of dirty plates, we had to do so ourselves, the fried eggs were unappealing etc....all in all, not impressed.

Fab location on the riverside within walking distance of the Riverside Museum and also the city centre both via the riverside footpath. Staff very friendly and helpful. Used Tesco vouchers so good value too.

Rooms are simple, but do have air conditioning.

Breakfast was a bit congested (not enough coffee machines) but staff were still doing a good job of keeping things stocked. Was let down because the croissants were not freshly baked off that morning.

Staff were excellent and friendly.

Disabled parking bays need repainting as there were some non-blue badge cars in them.

Room tip: Overlooking river is best

Lovely Prosecco afternoon tea as usual. Sandwiches were very fresh with a good variety of fillings. Lovely soft scones and delicious cakes. Special thanks to the staff member who seated us without fuss even though we were a month early! I obviously can't tell the difference between July and August. ☺️
