We visited Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games and stayed at the Ibis for two nights. Understandably, there was limited choice across the city and, I admit, I was a little apprehensive about the Ibis, as I had not stayed in one before. But I was pleasantly surprised.
If I say 'you get what you pay for', that sounds derogatory, but it is not meant to be. As with other similarly-branded hotels (the Premier Inns of this world), it is a pretty functional hotel, but, given that we were looking for little more than a base to go back to after the sporting events, we weren't necessarily after 5* luxury.
We were given a warm welcome when we arrived, with a friendly receptionist, who seemed genuinely interested in our visit, talking about the events we were going to see and what he would like to watch too.
Yes, as some of the other reviews suggest, the bed was harder than I was used to, but the room was large, clean and, more importantly quiet. The hotel is in a central location, with stations and amenities all close at hand.
Breakfast was a filling buffet and, while it was busy, there was plenty of room for everybody to eat.
If I returned to the city, I would definitely look to this hotel.
Thank you for adding your review of our hotel to the listing. We appreciated you choosing Ibis Glasgow for your stay and do hope that we can welcome you back soon.
We where choosing between two hotels and we really regretted choosing this one. The bed was really hard and the first night I slept horrible, the next day we asked if they could change it, well they probably did but we couldn't feel the difference. Outside the hotel it was very noisy with cars driving by who had spoilers on, so we couldn't sleep we the window open. Everywhere they had certificates that the hotel was so good for a budget hotel, but we deliberatly took this hotel instead of the Ibis budget hotel.
Breakfast was not really nice, they didnt have any healthy option, only grape fruit with sugar on it.
And it the hallways they sprayed a horrible perfume wich really made me sick.
Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us however i do thank you for the feedback which will help us to improve.
I do hope that in future you might consider using Ibis again.
I stayed here for one night and was disappointed. The room was ok and clean. The first problem was I had brought a coach full of passengers and there was no where to park the coach. The next problem was. There was no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Then I went for breakfast at 645 and there was no where to sit and eat your breakfast because they had not organised with the other coaches in the hotel what time to get breakfast an everyone turned up at the same time.
Thank you for adding a review of the hotel, I am sorry you were not aware of the local parking arrangements before you came to the hotel and I do hope we informed you when you arrived instead. Breakfast is always a delicate balance and we do try to get everyone thorugh at the times they need but thank you for letting us know about your experience.
I do hope we can look forward to a return visit in the future.
Although hubbie and I booked this hotel as the location was great for us and we were only staying one night, we unfortunately were a bit disappointed.
The room was fine in size, although was very sterile in appearance and we found the bathroom very strange and reminded me of going into a train or aeroplane toilet, just because the way it looked. The bathroom had a step up to this and for anyone using this in the middle of the night may have forgot there was a step and could quite easily trip, also due to the gaps above and below the door it wasn't very private and you could hear the person you are with won't go into to much detail).
The bed although was memory foam was hard and we found it difficult to get comfortable and also to sleep at night, the window did face offices which were very noisy first thing in the morning.
What was good about the Ibis was the location and the fact it was very clean and the staff were very friendly and efficient when checking in and departing. Not sure if we would come back but fine if you are only staying a night or two.
Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and thank you for th feedback. I do hope you will consider using Ibis again in the future.
Found the hotel to be sufficient without setting the world on fire. Friendly reception staff that were very helpful throughout. The room was clean yet unremarkable. Found my room window faced into offices in the adjoining building so that wasn't great.
The bathroom was basic and was like a plastic pod, quite strange! Location-wise, this hotel is perfect as it is just off Sauchiehall Street, with King's Theatre just around the corner.
As budget hotels go, this ticks the boxes and I would stay here again, although I would hope for a better view!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review the hotel, unfortunately being in the city centre does make the view from our rooms often that of adjoining offices, but on your next visit to us I hope we can make it a more pleasant view for you.
