“You get what you pay for”
Reviewed 18 November 2012

We stayed here for one night after attending a nearby dinner dance so basically needed somewhere cheap and central. This place ticked both of those boxes. The check in staff were friendly and rushed over to help us get our bags up to the room.

The room was quite big but fairly tired looking. It was also really hot and we couldn't seem to open the window. The next morning I couldn't get any warmth in the shower - after phoning down to reception they told me to leave it for a few minutes and sure enough that fixed, although she added that a lot of the rooms seem to have the same problem.

So to sum up it served our needs but until they spend some serious money refurbing the place then we won't be returning or recommending to others

Travelled 100 miles with a disabled daughter to arrive at the hotel and be told our room had been cancelled and they would find another one for us which they promptly did. The lounge and dining area on the reception area is lovely but the room was disgusting, i cannot describe how dirty it was the walls, floors, windows, everything was filthy. I cannot write a full review as we left the room straight away and told recepion we were not staying, this meant having to find another hotel with our daughter at 7pm. Although this hotel looks lovely from the outside i wouldnt put a dog in here to stay.

Stayed here as needed to be close to Queen St for a business trip. Was pleased to find I had been upgraded to a club room upon arrival. The furniture looked as though it had been refurbished but the paintwork was dirty and tired. The main problem with the room was that the walls were so thing, I could hear the screaming children and TV next door all evening when I was trying to work. I resorted to plugging in headphones to listen to music to drown it out. Ordered room service, food was good but the £10 glass of wine was off. I amazingly managed to sleep given the noise of traffic. Breakfast was distinctly average but service good.
Overall, it was just about acceptable for a night but won't be staying here again.

The hotel is located in the centre of Glasgow with everything you need on your doorstep. The facade is not that impressive but the service was great. Other reviews said bathrooms were not up to standard but ours was perfectly OK. We had arranged a deal including dinner and we were really pleased with the quality of the food which exceeded our expectations based on the price we had paid.

This hotel is way behind the ball in 2012. Aside from the location, which is prime, it is hard to imagine any other reason to stay here. The decor is dated, plaster falls from the ceiling, the sink and shower both need to be on to get enough hot water for a shower AND what they call WiFi is really non existent. In fact, if you want or need WiFi for your stay in Glasgow I would suggest you not stay here at all. When working, Wifi is 512K, not even close to high speed and in the evening with the hotel full, it will continually crash the more guests online simultaneously. Your access codes automatically expire at midnight and the night staff cannot issue new codes until the morning. If your WiFi does work it is positional..not all rooms have adequate coverage, and parts of your room may also not have coverage, turning 90 degrees might just boot you off the network.

Do yourself a favour. Stay in a 4 star hotel that delivers 4 star service....this one does not

Room Tip: stay someplace else

I would like to start by saying I booked this hotel as a 'secret hotel' deal. There is a reason it was kept a secret upon booking - you wouldn't book otherwise! The reception staff were friendly and reception area looked good but like others say the good impression end here. I went up to my level and the floorboards are so creaky! Got to my door and the paint was peeling off. I knew then this was a bad choice.

The rooms are very old fashioned I would say old and tired actually. Needs updating ASAP. The bathroom was huge with a heated towel rail. While the bathroom space gave a feeling of grandure - it doesn't make up for the tired decor. Old folks homes are more inviting!

Tea and coffee available in the room. I didn't eat or drink here.

I used the wifi which I had to pay £5 for but it did work fine.

The creaking floorboards are what woke me up the next morning followed by housekeeping. Checkout wasn't until 12pm but I couldn't wait to get out of there, there is nothing offered that would make you want to stay longer.

This hotel is in the centre of Glasgow, close to everything. First impression of the reception was great. The bathroom however was not. Peeling paint on the walls and ceiling, towel heater not working. The room itself was huge, clean, and although the night we stayed was mild, the room was not particularly warm.

Room Tip: Select a room overlooking George Square, however the city are about to commence work. Great for the...
