“right in the centre”

We chose this hotel because it was central to everything we wanted to do. No on site parking but we were guided to nearby shopping center at a bargain price. Although the hotel was past its best decor wise, and bathroom needed replaced, the beds were great and the room was cosy. We ate evening meal an breakfast which were lovely and very good for my coeliac issues. But the best thing about the stay was the welcoming and helpful staff. They could not do enough for my teen daughter and me. This alone will see a return trip. I may become a regular as daughter is going to units nearby.

This was the conference hotel, so no choice but to stay here. The location is great for sightseeing and access to the Queen Street rail station, but the hotel itself is old and very tired. We had a "Club Room" which was large but the carpeting was dirty and wrinkled, the wood around the doors was rotting and the window glass was only single pane which is surprising since our room faced a busy street. The traffic noise and partying out on the street at night into the early morning made sleeping a challenge.
"Club Room" gave you access to the "Club Lounge" - they must have taken old furniture and put it in a room and called it a lounge. No bottle opener one day, next day one of the staff had taken home the keys to the cabinets, so no drinks could be laid out. One fiasco after the other. Avoid this place at all costs!

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room away from the front of the hotel. Avoid the "Club Room" on the seco...

Although the Hotel does look a bit old from the outside the room I had was very clean and well appointed, it was called a clubman room, it was very large having room for a lounge at one end.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the breakfast buffet was good. The location was excelent right in the middle of Glasgow, my room overlooked George Square, the double glazing on the windows stopped any noise from the street which I thought was going to be a problem.
Great Hotel I would have recommend it to anyone.

I arrived last night having just read some reviews and was therefore not as shocked as I could have been! The room is exactly as people describe, old, shabby, dirty and with a bed as hard as nails and pillows as flat as pancakes and no workable aircon, I have had an horrendous night's sleep and unfortunately have two more to go.

I'm not even sure switching rooms would work, unless of course I got bumped up. But I am truly surprised that they can get away with calling themselves a 4 star luxury hotel. The corridors outside are dilapidated, the frames of the doors look like they've been chewed on and the fact there is clumps of mildew on the bathroom ceiling is quite frankly appalling. Thanks to someone else's tip, I brought my own slippers as I wouldn't want to walk on their carpet.

They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I've now read said book and am hugely disappointed.

My parents stayed at this hotel from the 18th -20th April. They were treated so well by the friendly staff and they even sang happy birthday to them at dinner on Friday night, when they took through their surprise lit candles on their desserts. Thank you for making their weekend so special

Room Tip: They were on the second floor with a great outlook to the square.

This is a great location for Glasgow city centre. The hotel does look a bit tired, needs recarpeting and a facelift but our room was fine, very comfortable, nice shower room. We were overlooking George Square on a Friday night, no problems with noise. The breakfast buffet was really good. Quality food, well cooked and served hot, what more can you ask for. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. I would stay here again.

Me and my boyfriend stopped here for Easter weekend and I know that it was a good price but it was grubby and nasty in our room, stained ceiling, carpet needed a good clean, the toilet and tiles around it were tatty and broken!! Really very disappointed!!
