“lovely breakfast !”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

Premier Inn Glasgow City South in Ballater St. is very easy to find, with easy access to and from M74 motorway.
Quad Room pre-booked 4 days earlier on Booking .com, for 4 nights B&B = £343 .
Nice chatty check-in lady, wrote down the number to call if we have any problems.
Compact public area with busy bar/costa outlet next to reception, and restaurant behind a glass partition. Everything modern.
Room 310 on third of 9 floors, overlooking a courtyard area with rubbish bins.
Nice room – usual purple, set up for 2 people. UK King bed (US queen), with small table on one side and shelf on other. Choice of pillows, 2 firm and 2 soft. Bed-settee along window wall. Small open wardrobe with 6 sturdy hangers. Tea-making (but bring your own biscuits). Hairdrier (but no safe or fridge). Desk and chair with large flat-screen on wall opposite bed. 2 nice flower pictures, long mirror and small well-lit mirror by wardrobe. Standard lamp and 2 bedside lamps. Temperature control on wall near bedside operates an efficient wall heater by the door.
En-suite with double shower stall, glassed in. (shower tends to run cold, on second shower) Wall dispensers for hair and body gel and for hand soap (but hand soap one doesn’t work). Towels not very thick or soft, but a reasonable size. No tissues. Toilet flush is too weak.
Wifi free for 30 mins per day, then £3 for a 24 hour period - very fair, but it didn’t work!. Message says ‘Internet Explorer blocked ... content with Security Certificate errors’ .
- Buffet breakfast, excellent value at £8.25 pp and free for under 16s. Jugs of juice and milks, all on labelled mats. Fresh fruit salad and bowl of fruits of the forest. Yogurts. 6 cereals in dispensers and muesli, with fixings: raisins, banana chips, dr apricots, dr papaya, pumpkin seeds. Cooked breakfast items well stocked and replenished (no black pudding). Croissants, crumpets, mini muffins and sliced bread to toast. Coffee machine. Nice friendly staff. (On 3rd morning, Croissants were seriously undercooked, and there were no crumpets for ages, until just as we were leaving.)
- Easy parking, in car park along front of hotel
- 5 mins walk to Bridge Street subway station
- 10 mins walk to St Enoch Centre.
- 15 mins walk to George Square

Will definitely stay there again.

I can't stress enough how much we enjoyed our stay with you at the weekend.

For £27.50 each, the hotel was spotless, the staff friendly and helpful and I think it was the best night's sleep I've had in a hotel thanks to the most comfy bed ever! Breakfast was a bargainous feast and I'm only sorry that we didn't need to stay longer, will definitely be back.

Keep doing what you're doing, Premier Inn!

we stayed here for one nite as we were going to the o2 to see the stranglers.

we arrived just after 2pm so got parked easily but we noticed in the morning how busy the car park had got.

the girl on reception was very friendly - on arrival and leaving - all glasgow girls

room clean and a decent size. bed comfy so got a decent sleep. no noise from above or from othere guests on the same floor. no noise from outside

little scared of the area but we had no trouble (wouldn't wonder about on my own) - bit industrial and some high rise flats

a short walk from a couple of pubs - again no trouble - no eating place though that i would visit!!!

if going to the o2 i would stay here again - this was my second visit - very handy

didn't have the breakfast but looked ok and there was plenty of space

for what i paid - good value

Chose this Premier Inn as I was attending a gig at the Academy - it's only 5 mins walk or so. Worth noting it's also a pretty short walk across the river to get into city centre also.

Hotel is exactly what you'de expect from the brand - clean, with everything you need for a short stayover, at a good price.

Staff were very good.

Breakfast is good value, especially if you have kids, as they eat free.

Stayed here in August 2012 for 4 nights with my husband and granddaughter. Had a brilliant stay, the rooms were clean, spacey and comfortable with generous sized beds. The breakfasts were superb and if you couldn't find what you wanted, the staff were eager to assist. All the staff greeted us with a friendly smile each day and were warm and welcoming. As it was our first visit to Glasgow they gave us handy tips and directions of places to visit and inquired each day on how our day went. We could not have wished for a better stay and we were sorry to leave, I would definitely recommend this Premier Inn and hope to visit again in the future.

We stayed here for one night while travelling. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist who smoothly checked us in and gave us information about the restaurant etc. All staff we encountered on our visit were friendly and approachable.

Our room was spacious and very clean, it looked like new! The TV was bigger than in some other premier inns we have stayed in but other than that it has everything else as standard.

The location was great, 10 mins walk to the city centre shops so no need to drive. We left our car in the hotel's car park - there were plenty of parking spaces and the car park has a barrier which you need to make sure you get the code for before you want to leave!

Overall we had a great, comfortable nights sleep for a bargain price of £29 and would recommend it for people needing to stay in Glasgow.

This has to be one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in. All staff, from the staff on the desk at our initial check in, to the restaurant and bar staff, to the cleaning staff, were friendly and helpful. Staff would not pass you or let you pass them without saying a cheery hello. Our room was very clean with a really comfortable bed and a massive walk in shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was really good value, beautifully cooked and plenty of it. The hotel is in a convenient location and we always walked to and from the hotel to the main shopping and bar/restaurant areas, (about 10 mins walk) no matter what time of the day or night and we didn't feel in the least bit uncomfortable with the area. There are 2 theatres very close by- one literally round the corner and one about 5 minutes walk away. The convenient free parking meant that we coud explore the parts of Glasgow which were further away but the underground was not too far away either. We will most certainly stay here the next time we are in Glasgow.
